CAMPBELL, Ohio – Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, February 14, at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, with Fr. Steve Denas officiating, for Caliope Popi Corfias, 84, who passed away Thursday, February 8.

Popi was born, August 1, 1933 in Kalymnos, Greece, the daughter of George and Maria Mavrou Lampadarios.

She was a member of the church and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, George, whom she married July 2, 1960; her daughter, Irene Miaoulis (husband, Tony Miaoulis); son, Dr. Mike Corfias (wife, Sevasti Corfias); grandchildren, Anthony Miaoulis (wife, Anna), Kalli Hazimihalis (husband, Chris), George Corfias and Misaili Corfias and six sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Maria.

The Corfias family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends on Tuesday evening, February 13 from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Archangel Michael Greek Church and again on Wednesday morning, February 14 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to services.

CAMPBELL, Ohio – Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12 at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 401 12th Street in Campbell, with Rev. Steve Denas officiating, for Theodore Gus “Ted” Perantinides, 76, who passed away Thursday morning, February 8, with his family by his side.

Theodore was born May 22, 1941, in Youngstown, a son of the late Konstantinos Perantinides and Hariklia Pahus Perantinides.

Ted was a 1959 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University.

He was a retired bridge painter and member of the Painters Union.

Ted was a member of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church.

He was a member of the Symian Society and the Mahoning County Democratic Party.

Ted loved nothing more than spending time with his family.

Ted leaves to cherish his memory, his former wife, Sylvia (Tsagaris) Perantinides, whom he married July 5, 1975; his three daughters, Nomiki (Michael Tsarnas), Harriet (Orlando Cortez) and Evangela (Theo Hazimihalis); his brother, Paul G. Perantinides of Hudson and his six grandchildren, Maria, Sylvia and Anna Tsarnas and Yianni, Savva and Sevasti Hazimihalis.

Theodore was preceded in death by his parents, Konstantinos and Hariklia Perantinides.

The Perantinides family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Sunday, February 11 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 216 Coitsville Road in Campbell and again Monday, February 12 from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. at the church, prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service.

Charles W. Evans Obituary

BUTLER, Pennsylvania – Charles W. Evans, Jr., 59, of Butler Pennsylvania, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Tuesday evening, February 6, 2018 at a friend’s residence.

He was born in Ellwood City on February 2, 1959 to Joan Gosciewski Evans of Ellwood City and the late Charles William Evans, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Evans.

He is survived by, in addition to his mother, Joan Evans; two sons, Christopher J. Evans of Newport, North Carolina and Charles David Evans of Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Also surviving is one sister, Patricia (and Allen) Hutchins of East Greenbush New York; one aunt and one uncle, Barbara (James) Leise of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania and S. William (Betsy) Gosciewski of Sydney, Ohio.

No public visitation is planned. A memorial service will be conducted in the Spring.

The Turner Funeral Home, 500 Sixth Street, Ellwood City, is entrusted with arrangements.

HOWLAND, Ohio – John “Alan” Fowler, 69, husband father and grandfather, of Howland, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Hospice House.

Born on January 18, 1949 to Vivian and John Fowler of Warren, Alan was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and obtained an engineering degree at Youngstown State University.

Alan enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Jule. Alan was an avid bowler who also liked to spend his time skating and participating in various SCOPE activities.

He attended Central Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jule (Andrus) Fowler of Warren, Ohio; daughter, Pam Dickens; son, John (Lyndsay) Fowler; brother, Bruce (Carol) Fowler; sisters, Cathy (John) Gibson and Donna Fowler and grandchildren, Jacob and Elizabeth.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Marc Runyon will officiate.

Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14 at the funeral home prior to services.

Inurnment will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, Ohio.

Patricia Marie “Pat” Miller Obituary

HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania – Patricia Marie “Pat” Miller of Hermitage passed away peacefully at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in the Good Samaritan Hospice facility, Wexford, Pennsylvania. She was 91.

Mrs. Miller was born January 3, 1927, in Sharon, a daughter of William J. and Gertrude (Schumacher) Buckley.

She was a lifelong area resident and 1945 graduate of Sharon High School.

Family was always her top priority and she cherished the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren.

Her husband, Frederick L. Miller, whom she married October 20, 1951, passed away July 26, 2004.

Surviving are a daughter, Marjorie J. (Charles) Wunder, Brevard, North Carolina; four sons, Frederick W. (Marina) Miller, Mars, Pennsylvania, Daniel C. (Leann) Miller, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Richard J. (Janet) Miller, St. Louis, Missouri and Scott A. (Deborah) Miller, Austintown, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Buckley, Sharon and Betty Miller Hermitage; 15 grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Wunder and Elizabeth (Tyler) Copeland, Maryn, Rory and Mallory Miller, Kristina (Jarrid) Danburg, Andrew (Meghan) Miller and Emily (Evan) Dudley, Rachel (Daniel) Amiri, Ryan (Brittany) Miller, Nathan, Bradley and Jeremy Miller and Megan and Abigail Miller and nine great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by all her nieces and nephews; her great neighbors, Vince and Nancy Collins and her caregiver, Amy Hoovler.

In addition to her husband, Pat was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William J. (Helen), Theodore and John Buckley and two sisters, Margaret (Joe) Combine and Eileen (Wilfred) Fromm.

Pat retired in 1991 as an office manager from the Sears Company, Shenango Valley Mall, Hermitage, where she worked for 23 years. Previously, she worked as a secretary for 11 years at Sharon Steel’s former Farrell plant.

Pat was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and volunteered preparing and serving funeral luncheons.

She was a member of the Sears Retirees Club and the Shenango Valley Dance Club, both Hermitage.

Pat was an avid and accomplished card player, taking great pleasure in winning games of Euchre, Pinochle and Gin. Pat also played Mahjongg at the Senior Citizen’s Center, Hermitage. She enjoyed crafts, particularly knitting, and at one time was a knitting instructor.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148 or Good Samaritan Hospice, 146 Neely School Road, Wexford, PA 15084.

Calling hours will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State Street, Sharon and 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass Monday, February 12 in the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 12 in the Church of Notre Dame, with the Very Rev. Richard J. Allen, pastor, as celebrant.

Entombment will be in St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.

ALBANY, Ohio (Formerly Sharon, Pennsylvania) – Stephen J. Falhamer Jr., 69, passed away Thursday evening, February 8, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Stephen was born on November 20, 1948 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Stephen and Julia Ann (Wasilow) Falhamer.

He was a 1966 graduate of Brookfield High School. Shortly after high school, he joined the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1974. He then continued his education at Hocking Technical College until 1978.

He worked for the United States Postal Service in Albany for 30 years until he retired in 2010.

He was a devout catholic and a past member of St. Thomas the Apostle.

He was a loving and caring brother and uncle.

Stephen will be deeply missed by his loving sisters, Mary (Dale) Stoeckel and Tracy (Albert) Betler; his brother, Frank Falhamer; his nephew, Jeffrey Betler and his niece, Lisa Betler.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Stephen will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes-Madasz Chapel, 6923 Warren-Sharon Road in Brookfield, officiated by The Very Reverend Father Zanni V.F.

Burial will take place at Brookfield Township Cemetery.

MEADVILLE, Pennsylvania – Joyce Georgia Poole Snowden, 89, formerly of Beaver and North Sewickley, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in the Wesbury UM Retirement Center in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

She was born September 16, 1928 in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Edgar Alan Poole and Georgianna Ramaley Poole.

She graduated from New Brighton High School in 1946 and married the late Donald L. Snowden in 1948.

She resided in Beaver, Pennsylvania for many years where she was a member of Park United Presbyterian Church there. She also lived in North Sewickley where she attended North Sewickley Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed dancing, photography, genealogy, reading and travel. She also enjoyed spending winters at her condo in St. Petersburg, Florida.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald and by a daughter, Robin Snowden (Mohamed Youssef) and a daughter, Lois Ann, in infancy.

She is survived by her children, Janice (Dennis) Shanafelt of Curwensville, Pennsylvania; Betsy (Mark) Murphy of Saegertown, Pennsylvania and John (Tracie) Snowden of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Michael (Colleen) Shanafelt, Daniel (Andrea) Shanafelt, Adam Murphy, Benjamin (Katherine) Murphy, Caitlyn Joyce Murphy, Sharif Youssef, Ian (Yi) Snowden, Lyla “Bella” Snowden and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Madeline, Andrew, Bryce, Chase, Eli and Jack.

Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Monday, February 12 in the Turner Funeral Home, 500 Sixth Street, Ellwood City, with Pastor Nathan Loudon of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in North Sewickley Cemetery.

NEW CASTLE, Pennsylvania – James Wilbur Patton, Jr., 83, of E. Friendship Street, formerly of Harlansburg, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at Golden Hill Nursing Home.

He was born January 22, 1935 in New Castle, a son of the late James and Sue (Adams) Patton, Sr.

He was married to the late Betty (Kerr) Patton who died August 30, 2016.

Mr. Patton was a New Castle City Police Officer retiring after 25 years. He then worked as a security guard at Ladbroke’s and St. Francis Hospital.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Era.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Patton also loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and his dogs and cats.

He is survived by three daughters, Melodie Cox and husband, Tim of Ellwood City, Joy Jewell and husband, Gale of Beaver Falls and Deanna Frankel and husband, Victor of Ocean City, North Carolina; two stepchildren, Darleen Rizzo and husband, Ron of New Castle and Larry Cover of San Francisco, California; two brothers, David Patton of New Castle and Thomas Patton of Alexandria, Virginia; three sisters, Ruth Ann Mack of New Castle, Carol Sue Bollinger of New Castle and Judy Patton of Richmond, Virginia; 16 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his son, James W. Patton III and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Pastor Jarod Mills of Clifton Flats First Alliance Church will be officiating.

Burial will be in the Parkside Cemetery.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Apostles-Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church for Renee L Ples, 57, who passed away Friday, February 9, 2018.

Renee was born in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of and John Ples and Mary Medovich.

She was a 1978 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and trained at St. Elizabeth Hospital for X-Ray tech.

She was a member of Holy Apostles-Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church.

Renee was a member of The Croatian Home Lodge #66 and served on the Board of Trustees, she booked the music at the club and many fundraising events and bake sales. She was very proud of her Croatian heritage and loved Tamburitza music and attended, with her father and brother, many Croatian musical events throughout the U.S. and Canada. After the passing of her parents, Renee took over family dinners and events.

She worked as a X-Ray Tech at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belmont, for 30 years and at Southwoods Surgical Center in Boardman.

Surviving are her brother, Ron Ples of Canfield and many cousins and friends throughout the U.S., Gary Andrews (Bev), Stephen Medovich, Rayond Medovich, Janice Hopen, Rob Medovich, John Medovich and her beloved Godchildren, Sydney Diulus, Jonathon Medovich, Andrew Hopen, Michael Andrews and Tyler Hart.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends will be received on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home.

WARREN, Ohio – Donald Babtist Hall, 84, of Warren, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1933 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Thomas and Matilda Hall.

On April 25, 1970, Donald married Elizabeth A. Petrick.

Donald worked on the 12-inch inspection line at Copperweld for over 35 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Hall, of Warren, Ohio; sons, Donald B. Hall, Jr. of Florida and Daniel Hall of Lordstown, Ohio; daughter, Eleanor Hall of Warren, Ohio; children from his first marriage, Linda, Didi and Brenda; stepson, Timothy Petrick of Warren, Ohio; brothers, Norman Hall of Pennsylvania and Joe Hall of Florida; sister, Lucy Smith of Georgia; grandchildren, Ashley, Kevin, Destini and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters.

There will be a gathering of friends and family on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

Rosalie A. (Astone) DelPapa Obituary

SHARON, Pennsylvania – Rosalie A. (Astone) DelPapa, of Sharon, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in the Cleveland Clinic after complications from a stroke. She was 85.

Rosalie was born in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania on July 20, 1932, the daughter of the late Carmelo and Rose (Oliver) Astone.

She was a graduate of Sharon High School.

She was a long-standing member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Sharon.

Rosalie had worked as a Medical Records Clerk at Sharon Regional Health System. Previously, she had worked at the former Peter J. Schmidt Company.

Well-known for being an amazing baker and cook, Rosalie reveled in creating her “goodies” for family events and holidays. She was a loving, giving, independent and strong-minded mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was fiercely protective and unwaveringly honest, with qualities that made her stand out and make friends wherever she traveled. Growing up with six sisters and two brothers, nothing meant more to her than her family.

On May 18, 1957, she married Edmund “Del” DelPapa. After his death on August 15, 1991, she became a working mother in a time when few were and with the satisfaction of having a career outside the home, forming many friendships.

Rosalie left a lasting legacy of kindness and compassion for her two sons, Ed, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Dominic and her daughter-in-law Jenifer, of Denver, Colorado; her grandson, Bailey Tills; her two sisters, Frances DiFeo and her husband, Gary and Gloria Hassel and her husband, Albert, all of Sharon, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, who were a constant presence in her life. Together, they formed a family that nourished each other wth love, food and Italian culture.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Joseph Astone and her sisters, Josephine Gligor, Mary Taub, Ida Marcus and Jennie Sakony.

The sound of her voice, her laugh and her energy, with Frank Sinatra singing in the background, she will be missed so much. But when the pain subsides, the overwhelming joy will always remain. We love you Rose!

WARREN, Ohio – Derrick Lee Bryant, 52, of 690 Woodbine Street, S.E., Warren, OH, departed this life Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 4:35 p.m. at the Cleveland Clinic, following an extended illness.

He was born November 12, 1965 in Warren, Ohio, the son of William Lee and Doloris Nell Brown Bryant, residing in California, Columbus, Ohio and Michigan, before returning to Warren in 1996.

Mr. Bryant was employed with Local Union #935 for a year as a Construction Worker, before retiring on disability in 2000. He also worked for Niles Railroad and Columbus Steel Corporation.

He attended Warren Business School and enjoyed dancing, singing, cooking, entertainment and spending time with his family.

He leaves to mourn two twin sons, Da’Von Lee Bryant and De’Vante William Bryant, both of Warren; one stepson, Brayden Cristlip; his mother, Ms. Doloris Smith Bryant of Warren; six brothers, Rickey Smith, Keith Gunther and Gary (Christie) Smith, all of Warren, Phillip Billingsley of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Shawn Jeter of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania and Fred Williamson of Warren; six sisters, Mrs. Karen (Robert) Harvey and Ms. Toni Smith, both of Warren, Ms. Toya Green of Farrell, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Sharon Johnson and Mrs. Shari Williams both of Kleen, Texas and Ms. Crystal Smith of Detroit, Michigan; fiance, Ms. Kayla Farmer of Warren; four Godchildren, Ms. Tiaria Mathis, Ms. Christina Burgess, Jordon Brantley and Quentin Brantley, all of Warren; a special friend, Ms. Mary Mathis of Warren and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Bryant and grandparents.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the New Jerusalem Fellowship Church. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to service, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Christie C. “Chris” Eaton Obituary

KINSMAN, Ohio – Christie C. “Chris” Eaton, age 69 of Kinsman, died Thursday afternoon, February 8, 2018 at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, following a brave battle with lung cancer.

She was born October 1, 1948 in Warren, the daughter of the late Lansing B. and Vivian L. Conner Campbell. She had been a lifetime Trumbull County resident.

Chris was a 1966 graduate of Lakeview High School. She attended Trumbull Business College and received her Bachelors dDegree from Kent State University.

She was an avid thespian in high school and at Kent State main campus theater, participating in several school plays.

Recently retired, Chris was President and Co-owner of Campbell Carpet in Cortland, having worked in the family business for over 50 years.

Chris was a logophile, loved a good conversation, was witty and loved to laugh and have fun. She was known as a voracious reader and for her love of gourmet cooking and foods. She was an excellent cook and carried on her parents’ tradition of the annual Scottish Hogmanay celebration of food and fellowship. Chris knew all the best stores to buy the best foods and cuts of meat. She was the family’s “Julia Child” and loved ethnic foods and restaurants. She loved to travel, especially to Niagara Falls, Canada and for scuba diving with Garry on the islands of Bimini and Bonaire and the Florida Keys. She dearly loved her cats and always rescued strays; they were her children!

Chris is survived by her soulmate and very best friend for the past ten years, Garry Lee Palette; her sister, Judith C. Dunn; her daughter, Danielle (Dan) Eaton Schoen; one nephew, John (Dawn) Dunn; two nieces, Jacquelyn Liberatore and Rebecca (Stuart) Eloph; her grandchildren, Dylan and Shelby Schoen; one great-niece, Lheda Liberatore; three great-nephews, Johnathan Dunn and Mason and Marshall Eloph and four close and special friends, Kathy Wolfe, Theresa Allison, Sis Dellinger and Diana Palmer.

Besides by her parents, Chris was preceded in death by her aunt, Shirley Conner and a great-niece, Rochelle Liberatore.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at St. Joseph Hospital ICU and fourth floor and Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate and loving care shown to Chris.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Fowler Community Church with Pastor Joel Dickson and Pastor John Talkington officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 Noon service time, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the church.

SALEM, Ohio – Rodman G. Franklin, 92, of Salem, died at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, Rodman 9, 2018 at Altercare of Alliance.

He was born on March 22, 1925 in North Jackson, Ohio, the son of the late Paul R. and Margaret M. (McClish) Franklin.

He has been a resident of the area most of his life.

He worked for the Mahoning County Farm Bureau in the 1940s, then moved on to Eljers Mfg for 20 years in the Shipping/Packaging Division. He founded the Franklin Cleaning Service in 1964 and continued to operate it until 1987.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II.

A member of the Salem First Christian Church, Salem American Legion Post #56 and Salem UCT #590.

He is survived by his children, Richard L. (Connie) Franklin of Salem and Cindy (Robert ) Komar of Cummings, Georgia; siblings, Alice Hilliard of Salem, Clara Ward of Augusta, Mary Cranmer of Salem, Nancy Hiltbrandt of Augusta, Joyce Tunnat of Salem, Margorie Anthony of Youngstown, Allen Franklin of Atwood Lake and Paul Franklin, Jr. of Niles; grandchildren, Michael Franklin, Lise (J.T.) Panezott, Steven (Parker) Komar, Kelly (Dustin) Faucett and great-grandchildren, Dillan and Travis Franklin, Justin and Braden Panezott and Nolan Kate Komar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Edith Pearl Hanna, whom he married on July 21, 1946 and preceded him in death on March 10, 2015; siblings, Carol Franklin, Charles, George and Leonard Franklin.

There will be a service held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.

The Reverend Leonard Moore of the church will be officiating the service. The Salem Honor Guard will offer military honors at the end of the services. The burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenford.

A time of visitation will be observed one hour prior to the service on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the funeral home.

The family has requested that donations be made to the Salem First Christian Church Memorial Fund, 1151 East Sixth Street, Salem, Ohio 44460.

HOWLAND, Ohio – Richard L. Pinkney, 75, of Howland, entered into eternal rest Friday, February 9, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio.

He was born October 11, 1942 in Youngstown, the son of Thomas and Marie (Neal) Pinkney and had lived in the area all his life.

A 1959 graduate of The Rayen School, Richard served in the U.S. Air Force.

A member of the Elks Lodge and the VFW, he had worked as a welder and enjoyed cards, games, travel and his grandchildren.

Fond memories of Richard live on with his beloved wife, Betty E. (Caffie) Pinkney, whom he married November 7, 1988; six children, Stephanie Marie Pinkney Paul of California, LaSonya (Ray) Dyson of Youngstown, Karen Parker of North Carolina, N. Denise (Melvin) Kimble of Georgia, Anthony (Terri) Motton of Alaska and Monique West of North Carolina; three step-children, Richard C. (Precious) Caffie of Warren, Robin D. Caffie of Oklahoma and Tammy M. (Levon) Johnson of Pinkerton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his grandmother and grandfather; three aunts; two uncles; one grandson and one great-grandson.

David J. (“Mogie”) Lesko Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Private family services were held Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, with Fr. Michael Swierz officiating, for David J. “Mogie” Lesko, 69, who passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

David was born March 8, 1948 in Youngstown, a son of John F., who died in the Korean War and Mary Vallintich Lesko.

He was a 1967 graduate of Chaney High School in Youngstown.

David was employed as a laborer in the shipping department of Aerolite Extrusion Co., retiring in March 2010, after more than 39 years of service.

He attended Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Youngstown.

An avid sports lover, David enjoyed all Ohio sports, including and most importantly, the Cleveland Browns, Cavs and Indians. He also enjoyed Ohio State sports and was a season ticket holder to Youngstown State University football games. In the early 1970’s, David helped coach Campbell Little League baseball.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 33 years, the former Linda Ann Yarnell, whom he married June 2, 1984 at the Chapel of the Friendly Bells in Youngstown; his daughter, Shelia (Mike) Goskie of Lowellville and his sons, Scott (Christina) Burkhart and Jeffrey (Kim) Burkhart all of Youngstown. In addition to his children, David leaves his nine grandchildren, Alexandra and Hunter Hornyak, Jenna Burkhart, Michael, Caitlin, James and Joseph Vaught, Brittany and Jessyka Burkhart and a great-grandchild that is on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas (Joyce) Lesko of Boardman, Charles (Monica) Merrill of Campbell, Barry (Gloria) Merrill of Canfield and Robert Merrill of Tennessee; a sister, Vicki Merrill of Austintown; his mother-in-law, Joan Yarnell; as well as many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, “Lady”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Henry Merrill; his father-in-law, Robert Yarnell; his son-in-law, Mark Hornyak and brother-in-law, Michael Yarnell.

Lillian Babinka Obituary

HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania – Lillian Babinka, a former longtime resident of Parkdale Avenue and more recently of The Ridgewood at the Shenango Valley, both in Hermitage, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, in the transitional care unit of Sharon Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was 95.

Mrs. Babinka was born December 1, 1922, in Farrell, a daughter of the late Zigmond and Bertha (Bogdan) Nemeth.

She was a 1940 alumna of Farrell High School and attended Edinboro College.

Lillian retired as a supervisor in 1984 from the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare in Hermitage, where she was employed for more than 15 years. She also worked at the former General American Transportation Corp. (GATX) during World War II.

Lillian was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hermitage and enjoyed knitting and card playing.

Her husband, Michael Babinka, Jr., whom she married August 3, 1940, passed away May 30, 2001.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Mineo and her husband, Anthony of Sharon; a son, Michael D. “Mickey” Babinka and his companion, Jane Kelly of Brandon, Florida; three grandchildren, Anthony J. Mineo and his wife, Jennifer of Chardon, Ohio, Leah McMahon and her husband, Shamus of Valley City, Ohio and Noah Mineo and his wife, Zimmin and six great-grandchildren, Michael and Max Mineo, Meara and Maisie McMahon and Lillie and Marco Mineo.

Besides her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Kaliney and Bertha Nemeth.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3325 Morefield Road, Hermitage, Pennsylvania 16148.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Incherm., 1090 East State Street, Sharon.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hermitage, with Rev. Gary Nelson, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hermitage.

Edmond D. Marino Obituary

SHARPSVILLE, Pennsylvania – Edmond D. Marino of Sharpsville, formerly of Cocoa Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, in his residence. He was 77.

Mr. Marino was born November 22, 1940, in Sharon, a son of Dante E. and Rose (Seaman) Marino.

He was a 1958 graduate of Sharpsville High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

Ed graduated from Gannon University in Erie, completing his undergraduate studies with a dual major in history and English. He later enrolled in graduate studies at Georgia State University where he first earned a Masters and ultimately a Doctorate degree in history.

Ed began his career teaching history at Chaney High School in Youngstown and after relocating to Cocoa Beach, he continued teaching for several years.

After returning home to the Shenango Valley, Ed worked as the office administrator and investigator at the Mercer County Public Defender’s office in Mercer.

He later returned to education as interim headmaster at Bradford Central Christian High School in Bradford, Pennsylvania.

During his retirement, he owned and operated the Buillion Shoppe in Sharpsville, an online business specializing in historic military photos and insignias.

Ed enjoyed reading and spending time at his condo in Cocoa Beach. He loved spending time researching history, particularly military history and was an avid collector and purveyor of rare military artifacts. He appreciated the music of Frank Sinatra and classic movies.

Surviving are a sister, Sandra Imhof of Sharpsville and a niece whom he was very fond of, Ellie (Jacob) Karrasch and their son, Sawyer, all Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Marino.

JAMESTOWN, Pennsylvania – Frank R. Murphy, age 85, of Murphy Road, Jamestown, passed away Friday morning, February 9, 2018 in Sharon Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Jamestown, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1932, a son of Forest and Patty (Nicholas) Murphy.

On March 14, 1952 Frank married the former Eva Lorraine Cadman, she survives.

He worked on the family farm Murphy’s dairy for 30 years and also worked with his brother, Gene at Gene Murphy Electric for 25 years.

He was a former member of Jamestown Fireman’s Club.

He enjoyed bowling and was an avid hunter especially hunting groundhogs with his brother-in-law, Bob.

Frank is survived by his wife; four children, Frank R. Murphy and his wife, Kathleen of Greenville, Patricia L. Truitt and her husband, Chuck of Marion, South Carolina, David W. Murphy and his companion, Melissa Coon of Jamestown and Scott A. Murphy and his wife, Rebecca of Hadley; a sister, Martha Reynolds of Conneaut Lake; a brother, Donald C. Murphy of Greenville; Ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene Murphy; three sisters, Bonnie Hyde, Thelma McClimans and Mary Stevenson.

Calling Hours will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty Street in Jamestown.
