Patricia Rose Reardon Munroe, Poland, Ohio

POLAND, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) — Patricia Rose Reardon Munroe, 87, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020, with her family at The Inn at Poland Way.

Pat was born Nov. 29, 1932 in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Fred and Mary Zwicker, She attended The Rayen School and graduated from South High School. 

She lived in the Youngstown area from 1943 to 1977 and in Naples, Florida from 1977 to 2019, returning to Poland this past September.

She was school secretary at Lely High School in Naples for many years and an office manager/secretary in various businesses. She did volunteer work at Youth Haven and tutored elementary school children.

She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, bridge and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four children, Tom (Paula) Reardon, Judy DeVecchio, Bob (Sue) Reardon and Jim (Becki) Reardon, all in the Youngstown area. She is also survived by two brothers, Fred (Nancy) Zwicker of Columbiana and Bill (Randi) Zwicker of Bonita Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren, Matt (Emily) Reardon of Columbus, Josh (Lynsay) Reardon of Columbus, Katie (Collin) Lawson of Takoma Park, Maryland, Jennifer (Tony) Stanko of Largo, Florida, Lindsay DeVecchio of Poland, Kristen Reardon of Stow, Michael Reardon of Bloomington, Indiana and James Reardon of New Middletown; and seven great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Art Munroe, whom she married May 23, 2004, died February 16, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Pat’s family would like to thank the staff at The Inn at Poland Way for their kindness and care and special thanks to Hospice of the Valley for their exceptional care of their mother.

There will be no calling hours or services. There will be a private celebration of her life in March.

Maurice James Davis, Columbiana, Ohio

COLUMBIANA, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Maurice James Davis, age 97, of Columbiana, died on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Windsor House at Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.

He was born on May 12, 1922 in Green Township, a son of the late Elmer and Ethel Mitchell Davis.

Maurice was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII and had worked as a Sheet Metal Worker at R.S.M. Youngstown.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Bowser Davis; two sons, Michael Davis of Canfield and Larry Davis of Columbiana; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Davis; a daughter, Linda Drotleff and several sisters.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – With deepest sorrow we announce that Charles H. “Charlie” Eichenlaub IV, age 34, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Medical Center Hospital, Odessa Texas.

Charlie was born on January 12, 1986, in Youngstown, Ohio to Charles H. “Chip” Eichenlaub, III and Diane Kerr Duda.

Survived by his parents and stepfather, Mark Duda of Albuquerque New Mexico; his son, Mason of Trafford, Pennsylvania; his sisters, Samantha Eichenlaub of Odessa Texas and Katherine Eichenlaub of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; stepsister, Kayla Scanlon of Louisville, Kentucky; maternal grandmother, Nancy Kerr of Youngstown Ohio; his girlfriend, Daniella Beseril of Odessa, Texas; his nephew, Damein and his niece, Ariana of Odessa, Texas and beloved aunts and uncles and several cousins.

Charlie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald and Martha Eichenlaub; his maternal grandfather, Richard Kerr, Sr. and his uncle, Richard Kerr, Jr.

Charlie graduated from Bradford School of Business and was employed at E & A Welding & Oilfield Service, Odessa Texas.

Charlie loved spending time with his family, especially his son, Mason and his many friends. He loved the outdoors, the winter snowfall, fishing, taking care of animals and of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Charlie was blessed with an artistic ability and could draw anything

Charlie had a good and kind heart that impacted those who knew him. He left us all and our hearts will never be the same. He will be missed every day.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Church, New Castle, Pennsylvania.

His burial will be private.

Those who choose to give a gift of honor, can make contributions in his name to the Humane Society of Odessa, Texas or the Lawrence County Humane Society of New Castle, Pennsylvania.

SOUTHINGTON, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Janet M. Town, 83 of Southington, died Sunday evening, January 26, 2020, in the emergency room at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

She was born November 11, 1936 in Parkman, the daughter of the late Adam and Marjorie C. Cone Ash.

Janet was a 1954 graduate of Chalker High School in Southington.

She was a homemaker all of her married life and was of the Baptist faith.

She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, vegetable and flower gardening, working in the yard and horseback riding. She and her husband, Eugene were avid campers and loved traveling and camping with their RV. They enjoyed vacationing and spending winters in Natchez and Morgantown, Louisiana and traveling the Natchez Trace. Janet enjoyed casinos and the slot machines.

Janet is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eugene L. Town, whom she married February 18, 1956; one daughter, Jeanie K. Mathison of Huntsville, Ohio; one son, Joel E. (Vicky) Town of Niles; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and one sister, Virginia (Don) McCullough of Garrettsville.

One son, Jay A. Town preceded in 1981 and one brother, Russell Ash also preceded her in death.

Per Janet’s wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. Cremation will be held with burial at Overlook Cemetery in Parkman.

HOWLAND, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Karin E. Pflager, of Howland, age 83, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the home of her daughter, Delilah.

Karin was born January 14, 1937 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Bruno Pogrzeba and Frieda (Wolf) Gallkowski.

She married Paul J. Pflager in 1953 and emigrated to the United States in 1954. She became a naturalized citizen in 1954 and was very proud of her new-found citizenship in America.

Karin was active in community affairs as a military wife with many on-base activities. The family moved to Warren in 1968 after Paul’s retirement from the Army.

In Warren, she was involved in activities such as Welcome Wagon, Fifth Wheel, Weeds to Roses Garden Club and several card clubs. She also volunteered with her two sons’ activities and sports. Karin was very talented at crocheting as well.

She was employed in various occupations in the Warren area but thoroughly loved her time she was employed at the Youngstown Reserve Air Station as a civilian employee.

Karin is survived by her children, Delilah (Tom) Waldron-DeNicholas of Warren, Mark (Jennifer) Pflager of Niles and Gordon Pflager of Kent; her grandchildren, Stacy Waldron Fisher, Jason (Lisa) Waldron, Daelle (Gary) Waldron-Gearhart, Michael (Jannell) Pflager, Dylan and Lexie Pflager, Brenden, Madysen and Emmah Mostoller, Scott DeNicholas and Erin (Kosta) Fantidis; her great-grandchildren, Katarra, Taylor, Janessa, Kendall, Austin, Aubrey and Autumn, as well as, her stepbrother, Arnim Gallkowski of Berlin, Germany.

Karin was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; her son-in-law, Donald Waldron and her parents and stepparents Bruno and Annie Pogrzeba and Frieda and Alfred Gallkowski.

Visitation for Karin will be held on Wednesday, January 29, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, Warren where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in memory of Karin may be directed to Hospice of the Valley or Animal Welfare League.

GUSTAVUS TOWNSHIP, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Audrey C. Jones, age 80, of Gustavus Township, Ohio, died Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Sharon Regional Hospital in Sharon, Pennsylvania.

She was born March 6, 1939, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Robert and Velma (Greene) Frattaroli.

She attended McKeesport High School and went on to Youngstown State University to receive her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Accounting. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

Formerly of Girard, Ohio, Mrs. Jones lived in Gustavus for the past 22 years.

She was employed as a CPA.

She formerly attended the Girard United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed flower gardening.

Mrs. Jones married Wesley L. Jones on October 13, 1956 and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2018. She is also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tracy Lee Baker and two sisters, Michelle Dausey and Beverly Cislo.

She is survived by her son, James Thomas (Amy) Jones of Concord, Ohio; her daughter, Kelley L. (Charles) Evans of Mercer, Pennsylvania; her son, Wesley L. (Mona) Jones of Hubbard, Ohio; her two sisters, Barbara Frattaroli Chakalis of Maryland and Norma Frattaroli of White Oak, Pennsylvania; her brother, Mike Stefanko of Irwin, Pennsylvania; her ten grandchildren and her six great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held.

Burial of cremated remains will take place in Belmont Park Cemetery in Liberty township, Ohio.

NILES, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Melissa R. Flanigan, 44, of Niles, died Monday, January 20, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Youngstown, after a brief illness.

She was born November 4, 1975, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of John E. and Sherrie Jones Flanigan.

Melissa was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

She attended the Pleasant Valley Christian Church.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at nursing homes.

She is survived by two sons, Brandon Flanigan of Warren and Cameron Stevens of Orwell, Ohio; a daughter, Taylor Flanigan of Warren; her father, John E. Flanigan of Niles; two brothers, John (Sherry) Flanigan of Palm Coast, Florida and Brian (Valerie) Flanigan of McDonald, Ohio and two grandchildren, Serenity and Raiden.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sherrie Everett.

At her request there are no funeral services.

She was born February 11, 1965, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Russell and Lynn (Kline) Moorehouse.

Laura was a graduate of South River High School in Edgewater, Maryland.

She loved animals, especially dogs. She enjoyed cross stitching, needlepoint, crocheting and quilting. Laura was known to all as being kind hearted and will be dearly missed.

Laura is survived by her husband, Thomas Williams whom she married May 17, 1997; parents, Russell and Lynn Moorehouse of Stevensville, Maryland; two daughters, Jackie Powell of Maryland and Amanda Rose of Delaware; son, Robby Rose of Maryland; sister, Allison of Maryland; brother, Russ Moorehouse of Virginia; several grandchildren, stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Family and friends may call Thursday, January 30 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., where a Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 p.m., at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

She was born January 30, 1985, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, daughter of Sonya Michelle (Egan) Call and Glenn Call Sr.

Formerly of Rome, Ohio, Jessica had lived in Jamestown, Pennsylvania and attended Jamestown High School.

She was passionate about music and enjoyed fishing and crocheting.

Jessica is survived by her four children, Brianna, Jonathan, Blake and Jessalynn; her parents, Glenn and Sonya Call of Jamestown, Pennsylvania; her maternal grandmother, Bobbie Link of Cherry Valley Township, Ohio; sister, Shani (James) Roberson of Jefferson, Ohio; brother, Glenn Call, Jr. of Greenville, Pennsylvania; sister, Edith Call of Bay Village, Ohio; sister, Gwen Call of Cleveland, Ohio; aunts and uncles, Angelia (Deak) McCallister, Sherrie (George) Krupa, Sandra (Rick) Smith and Fred (Barb) Egan and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Fred Egan, Sr., James Link and Edith (James) Call.


A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service. Calling hours will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., until the time of service.

Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery.

Matthew Myers, Columbiana, Ohio

COLUMBIANA, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Matthew Myers, age 44, of Columbiana, left us on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 

He was born on December 5, 1975 in Salem, Ohio, to Nancy Kimble Myers and the late Kenneth L. Myers.

He graduated from Columbiana High School in 1994.

He’s survived by many family members who loved him: his mother, Nancy L. Myers of Columbiana; his sister, Tracey (Myers) Carroll and brother-in-law, Brian Carroll of Medina, Ohio; his two brothers, Eric Myers of Galena, Ohioand Steve Myers and sister-in-law, Rachel (Miller) Myers of Bradford, Ohio.

Matt never married and never had kids of his own but he adored his nieces and nephews, Erin Myers, Bret (Anna) Myers, Lauren (Simon) Bartos, Megan Carroll, Mark Myers, Kennah Myers, Kayla Cooper and Josiah, T.J. and Bella Brewer.

He also leaves behind his Uncle Denny and Aunt Linda Kimble and Aunt Ruth and Uncle Tom Williams, as well as, many cousins.

Matt wasn’t dealt the best hand in life–he lost his dad at a young age and that defined him. He was a restless soul but found happiness and some peace while driving, reading, writing and doing something he was especially good at, playing poker. Matt was a private person but he made friends wherever he went and somehow always saw the best in people. He was generous almost to a fault and tried to help anyone who looked like they needed it. Matt also had a wicked sense of humor, which his family will definitely miss.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana, with a memorial service immediately following. His cousin, Pastor Dave Wyant, will be officiating.

Thomas Robert Cera, Niles, Ohio

NILES, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Thomas Robert Cera, 92, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Trumbull Regional Medical Center. 

He was born in Niles, Ohio on February 7, 1927 the son of Thomas Anthony and Laura (Hartman) Cera.

He was a 1945 graduate of Niles McKinley High School; in 1951 he received a Bachelor of Science from Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska and in 1960 he received a Master’s Degree in Education from Westminster College.

He honorably served in the United States Coast Guard from 1945 to 1946.

Tom taught and coached at Hartford, Newton Falls, Mineral Ridge Schools and retired in 1985 from Niles McKinley Schools where he taught biology and was an assistant principal. He also coached basketball and football at Warren JFK High School. 

Tom was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Niles Council 1681 and a former member of the executive council of the Trumbull County Coaches Association. He was elected and served as a Weathersfield Township Trustee from 1964 to 1968.

Tom’s goal in life was to improve lives of his children, pupils, and players by constantly stressing hard work, perseverance and dedication. 

Tom is survived by his wife, Eunice Jacqueline (Mannella) Cera whom he married on July 4, 1950; three children, Cynthia L. (Charles) Lininger of Gustavus, Robin T. (Roselyn) Cera of Girard and Dr. Kevin R. (Nancy) Cera of Brookville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Dr. Brandon (Kaileigh) Cera of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Kelli (James) Keagy, Dr. Carlin (Aric) Cera-Musselman of Brookville, Sidney (Connor) Domsitz of Columbus and Taylor Cera of Warren and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Keagy and Luke Thomas Cera. 

He was preceded in death by a sister, Elvira A. Golden. 


A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St. Rose Church where family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 Noon at church prior to Mass.

Larry S. Demetruk, Girard, Ohio

GIRARD, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Larry S. Demetruk, 67, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 26, 2020, at his home.

Larry was born February 29, 1952, in Youngstown, a son of Steve and Lola Ragazzo Demetruk and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1970 graduate of Girard High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force.

Larry loved to fish and was an avid bowler at the former Kay Lanes. He belonged to the IFH in Girard and loved to play bocce with his team, The Hungry Hearts. Most of all, Larry loved his family.

His wife, Pam Betts Demetruk, whom he married in April of 1981, passed away December 31, 1997.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Kira Savon; his mother, Lola Meek; two grandchildren, Adam and Erionna; a sister, Maryann (Dave) Brown; his cousin and best friend, Billy Freeman and his girlfriend, Toni.

Larry will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his wife, his father, Steve Demetruk; his son, Erik Demetruk; his sister, Carol DeSantis and his stepfather, Hugh Meek, preceded Larry in death.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State Street, Girard, where funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Leo M. Rivera, Campbell, Ohio

CAMPBELL, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Leo M. Rivera, 88, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

Leo was born April 15, 1931 in Lares, Puerto Rico, the son of Manuel and Maria Molina Rivera.

He came to New York in the early 1950’s, eventually settling in the Youngstown area.

He worked as a millworker at Youngstown Sheet and Tube until his retirement.

He was a member of Sta. Rosa de Lima Church, a Crusillista, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Teamsters

Leo grew up in a farming community in the countryside of Puerto Rico. He left his hometown to pursue better economic opportunities to support his family. He always loved his hometown and would frequently return, eventually building a beautiful second home near his brothers and sisters. He was able to return as recently as 2016, accompanied by his family

He had a passion for gardening. At times, he tended to three gardens at once across Campbell. He enjoyed taking daily strolls to Roosevelt Park, reading and dancing to Spanish music with his devoted wife, Delia. On warmer days, you could often find him on his hammock, listening to Cleveland Indians games on the radio.

As a husband, father and grandfather, he was very proud, strong, loving and supportive. His family and faith meant the world to him and was the center of his existence. He loved his three children unconditionally and encouraged them to work hard and to pursue a better life through education. He taught them to always help others in need—-a lesson he taught by example. He loved his precious dogs, Mia and Cody, who were always on his lap but above all, he loved his beautiful, devoted and loving wife, who over his later years took such meticulous and loving care of him with respect, dignity and compassion.

Leo leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Ana Delia, whom he married October 13, 1956; his children, Wilfredo (Marianna) Rivera of Henderson, Nevada, Maggie Rivera of Campbell and Maria “Mary” (Lenny) Sliwinski, Jr. of Poland; four grandchildren, Lennie Sliwinski of San Francisco, California, Kara Sliwinski of Santa Monica, California, Jenna Sliwinski of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Marcos (Brittany) Rivera of Henderson, Nevada and one great-grandson, Zeke Rivera of Henderson, Nevada. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, Otilia Rivera, Maria R. Rivera, Rosalia Rivera, Enelida Vigo, Johnny Rivera and Victoriano Rivera.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Alfredo Rivera, Gonzalo Rivera, Margarita Rivera, Mercedes Ocasio, Maria S Rivera and Luz Soto.

SALEM, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Dianna Lynn (Baker) Solomon, 70, of Salem, died at her home in the early morning hours of Monday, January 27, 2020.

She was born on February 11, 1949, in Salem, to the late Dale and Ruby (McCluggage) Baker.

Dianna graduated High School in 1968 from David Anderson High School in Lisbon, Ohio.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed making art projects, which included knitting, crochet, quilting and sewing.

She is survived by her children, Priscilla Solomon of Salem, Paul (Lisa) Solomon of Lisbon and Diandra (Steve) Pavelko of Columbiana; siblings, Jeanne Hickman of Salem, Nancy Miller of Lisbon, Athelda Jane “Teddy” Hartman of Youngstown, Dale Baker, Jr. of Lisbon, Deborah Dowdell of Lisbon and Ronald Baker of Lisbon, as well as, six grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Solomon, Jr., whom she married on November 28, 1970.

Services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, with Dan Moffett officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at Damascus Cemetery.

DAMASCUS, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Mary Ellen (Horsefield) Smith, 76, of Salem, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Damascus.

She was born on October 20, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Horace and Henrietta Horsefield.

She was a former security officer at a casino near Vineland, New Jersey.

She attended Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mary loved to do arts, crafts and spend time with all children and her family.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Wayne Smith whom she married on January 9, 1965; children, Stephen Michael Smith of Leetonia, Kimberly Ann (Jonathen) Gale of New Jersey and Anthony Christopher Smith of Salem; brothers, William and Larry; sisters, Randy, Susan and Jackie and eight grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey Smith and a brother, Tony Magro.

She will be laid to rest in Friendship Cemetery in Buena Vista, New Jersey.

There are no plans for any local services.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown for Janet F. Butchko Petrolla Sivecz, 88, who passed away on Friday afternoon, January 24, 2020.

Janet was born January 27, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Carach Butchko.

She lived in the area her whole life and she was the head cashier at Fisher Foods for 15 years.

She graduated in 1948 from North High School as an honor student and attended Youngstown State University, where she was also an honor student. S

he was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown.

She enjoyed going to casinos and was an ace poker player. She loved to travel, bowl and golf in her younger years. Throughout her lifetime she was an avid reader and lived her life to the fullest. She left a legacy of love and unity to her family.

Janet married John A. Petrolla in 1949 and he passed away in 1964. She married her second husband, Edward “Rubo” Sivecz, on August 5, 1977, who passed away on October 10, 2016.

She leaves her children, Constance Petrolla (Tom) Scott of Naples, Florida, Deborah A. Petrolla (Ken) Meyer of Erie, Pennsylvania, John R. (Donna) Petrolla of Cleveland, Ohio, Denise L. Petrolla (Ed) Aey of Boardman, Ohio and Renee J. Petrolla (Doug) Benson Poland, Ohio; one brother, Daniel Butchko of Youngstown, Ohio; a sister, Carolyn Carach Horvatich of Big Spring, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and one sister, Loretta Butchko Angeloff.

Friends may call on Friday, January 31, at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 1898 Wilson Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44506 before the service from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m.

He was born August 18, 1951, in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late Charles L. and Helen P. (Sherosky) Beatty.

Gregory retired from Williams IGA in Vienna as a butcher.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Martin) Ankenbruck of Cortland, Ohio; son, Clayton (Sarah) Beatty of Warren, Ohio; brother, Jeff Beatty; grandchildren, Jordyn Ankenbruck, Brett Starcher, Bailey Starcher and Clayton J. Beatty.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Beatty.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Joan K. Sacchet , age 83, of Austintown, formerly of Canfield and Columbiana, died on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Briarfield Manor, Austintown.

She was born on February 4, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Schirck Ernst.

Joan graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and was catholic by faith.

She had worked as a Bookkeeper and Billing Clerk with the Ohio Water Company.

Her husband, Rudolph Sacchet, whom she married on July 29, 1972, preceded her in death on, August 13, 2013.

Joan is survived by a niece, Beth (Chet) Hahne of Gainesville, Virginia; a nephew, Tim Nicols of Roseville, Calofornia and two great nieces, Mikayla and Brianna.

She was preceded in death by sister, Alice Nicols.

Per Joan’s wishes no services will be held.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

NILES, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Thelma Howard Holman, 84, of 2645 Niles Vienna Road, Niles, departed this life Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 12:03 p.m. at Trumbull Regional Medical Center, following congestive heart failure.

She was born June 10, 1935, in Schlater, Mississippi, Ohio, the daughter of Superintendent David and Mother Ora Washington Howard Sr., residing in the area for 65 years.

She was employed with the Youngstown Hospital Association for 40 years as a Registered Nurse, before retiring. She was also Owner/Operator of Eli’s Barbeque.

She was a 1953 graduate of Tutwiler High School and received her Nursing Degree from Mississippi State University.

She was a member of St. James Church of God in Christ, where she served as a Pastor’s Aide, Missionary Instructor, Bible Band Teacher, was an Organist and enjoyed cooking, shopping, reading and interior decorating.

She married Elder Eli Holman February 8, 1958, he passed away September 27, 1989.   

She leaves to mourn four brothers, Elder David (Louise) Howard Jr. and Eddie Howard Sr. both of Warren, Elder Nehemiah (JoAnn) Howard of Columbus and Dr. Melvin (Betty) Howard Sr. of Warren; two sisters, Mother Lethonia Herron and Mrs. Millie Howard (Charles) Kirkland both of Warren and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Aaron Howard; three sisters, Ms. Katherine Coleman, Ms. Ora Faulk and Ms. Daisy Burnett.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Warren First Assembly of God Church, 2640 Parkman Rd., NW.

Calling Hours will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at St. James Church of God in Christ, 1838 Main Ave., SW and a Service of Remembrance will follow from 7:00 p.m.-until.

Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
