Louise E. (Franko) Barton Obituary

NAPLES, Florida (Formerly Youngstown, Ohio) – Mrs. Louise E. Barton (Franko), 76, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018.

She was born September 16, 1941, to the late Joseph (Farmer) and Julia Franko.

She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.

Louise graduated from Poland High School in 1959 and was a licensed beautician for many years.

She loved to spend time with her family. Louise was an avid gardener and bridge player. She also enjoyed playing golf and mahjong and knitting.

She was born in Youngstown and lived in Cleveland and Wheaton, Illinois, until her retirement in 1996, after which she resided in Naples and spent summers in Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania.

Louise attended Saint Ann Catholic Church in Naples and Lady Queen of Americas Church in Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Morgan Barton, Sam Clemente and Bob Badger and sister-in-law, Lillian Badger.

Louise is survived by her loving husband, Clyde; daughters, Laura Weber (Rick) and Beth Lutkauskas (Greg); grandchildren, Sarah Weber, Ben Weber, J.P. Lutkauskas and Danny Lutkauskas; sister, Eileen Clemente; cousin, Janet Rannenberg; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Barton; brothers-in-law, Jim Barton (Beulah), Bob Barton (Sibylle) and Fred Barton (Rnet); as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by many for her skillful bridge playing and her love for her husband, children and grandchildren.

Joseph J. O’Hara Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Joseph J. O’Hara, 65, of the city’s west side, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, February 12, 2018, at his home.

Joseph was born September 14, 1952, in Youngstown, a son of the late John and Mary Hallochak O’Hara and lived his life in this area.

He was a 1971 graduate of Chaney High School and worked as a surgical technician at the former Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital and for Northside Medical Center, retiring in 2014.

Mr. O’Hara was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown, where he was active in many church activities.

He enjoyed cooking and was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians, the Ohio State Buckeyes and of the Chaney Cowboys.

Joe is survived by his wife, Irene Hryb O’Hara, whom he married May 1, 1976; his daughter, Shannon (Joseph) Seifert of Youngstown; two brothers, Frank (Joan) Bartolec of Youngstown and James (Arthea) O’Hara of Warren and two sisters, Donna Pappagallo of Youngstown and Kathy Heinlen of Masury.

Joe’s birth mother, Loraine Goroski, is deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, in Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17, at the funeral home and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Avenue, Youngstown.

Kathryn “Kitty” Ellen (Downes) Dixon Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Dominic Church will be celebrated by Rev. Bernard Timothy, O.P., assisted by Deacon George Kashmar Saturday, February 17 at 10:30 a.m. for Kathryn “Kitty” Ellen Dixon, 90 years young, who passed away gracefully Monday afternoon, February 12 surrounded by her family.

Kitty was born July 5, 1927 in Youngstown, a daughter of James C. and Anne McGivern Downes.

She was a proud graduate of both Immaculate Conception and Ursuline High School; where she was head majorette and prom queen.

After graduation in 1945, Kitty relocated to Oakmont, Pennsylvania, with her family where she was a supervisor for Pennsylvania Bell Telephone.

Kitty was a devoted Catholic and active member of St. Dominic Parish.

She volunteered at St. Dominic’s as well as St. Vincent Depaul.

Kitty belonged to Camelot and Boardman Bowling Leagues, Ursuline Bridge Club, Bears Club and Women Auxiliary Bears, water aerobics, the Starlighters, many golf leagues and many other social groups over the years.

Kitty was an accomplished seamstress and crocheter; family and many friends were the recipients of her treasures.

Kitty set the gold standard for grandmothers; making each of her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren feel special with movie and lunch dates, special birthday outings and shopping trips galore.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 68 wonderful years, Donald E. Dixon, whom she married November 5, 1949; her children, Anne (Emanuel) Saraceno, Donald (Barbara) Dixon, Jr. and Mary Grace (Deacon George) Kashmar of Libertyville, Illinois; grandchildren, Matthew (Christine) Saraceno, Mark Saraceno, Katie (Mark) Rowley, Donald Dixon III, Patrick and Annie Kashmir and great-grandchildren, Gianna and Gabriella Saraceno.

She also leaves a younger sister, Mary Grace Miller of Oakmont, Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Benjamin Gessler and Norman Frick and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Kitty is preceded in death by sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Gessler, Jane Frick and Nancy Gamble and her beloved dog of 17 years, Glaze.

Moms Legacy will forever be cherished and now, Kitty is enjoying her “Heavenly killians” which she felt to be the “best medicine”.

Friends may call from 9:00 – 10:20 a.m. Saturday morning, February 17 at St. Dominic Church prior to Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church, 77 East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44507.

GIRARD, Ohio – Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Church, Girard, Ohio for Christine M. DeAngelis, 71, who passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018.

Christine was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on May 3, 1946 a daughter of Edward Covacic and Anna Kunovic.

She was a 1965 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a member of St. Rose Church.

She worked at the Sunny Days Pre-school and Daycare of St. Rose School.

Surviving are her husband, Gerald (Jerry) DeAngelis, whom she married September 29, 1973; a son, Corey (Stacie Ciani) of Girard, a grandson, Austin Ohl of Youngstown and two nephews, Michael and Edward Sarisky.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brea and a sister, Joann Sarisky.

Friends will be received at St. Rose Church on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Charles “Bob” R. Gay, Jr. Obituary

MECCA TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Charles Robert “Bob” Gay, Jr., 56, of Mecca Township, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at his residence, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born January 2, 1962 in Youngstown, the son of Charles R., Sr. and Kathy June (Brown) Gay and had lived in the area all his life.

Bob worked as a mechanic and in maintenance.

He enjoyed building models, working on cars and his grandchildren.

He is sadly missed by his mother, Kathy Gay-Wolfe of Mecca; three children, Raymond Charles Gay of Mecca, Anthony David Gay (fiancée Erica Luedtke) of Tampa, Florida and Chelsey Lynn Gay of Warren; three grandchildren, Phillip Franklin Gay, Ava Monroe Gay and Ariel Sophia Adams and his former wife, Veronica Johnson of Orwell.

His father precedes him in death.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at a later date at the Moose Lodge in Mecca.

Mark R. Uber Obituary

TRANSFER, Pennsylvania – Mark R. Uber, 46, of Transfer, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly, of natural causes, on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on March 31, 1971 to Charles Robert, Jr. and Ronda (Williams) Uber, who survive him of Greenville.

Mark was a 1989 graduate of Greenville High School.

He was currently employed at Greenville Wood Products, where he’s been working since graduating high school.

He enjoyed fishing and racing RC cars. He loved hanging out and working with his best friends, Rick and Missy, especially working their tow truck and building the new garage. He had a huge heart, a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease people.

In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by two brothers, C. Robert “Bob” Uber III and Corey R. Uber and his fiancée, Crystal Moyer, all of Greenville; maternal grandmother, Maxine Williams of Greenville; nephew, Braden D. Uber of Greenville; niece, Rilee Uber of Greenville; aunt and uncle, Deb and Thomas Hoffman of Greenville and two best friends, Rick Lineburger and Missy Wheaton of Transfer.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rodney Williams and paternal grandparents, Charles R., Sr. and Anna Marie Uber.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 19 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Osborne-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 73-75 Columbia Avenue, Greenville, where a memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. June Boutwell, interim pastor at Zions Reformed United Church of Christ in Greenville, officiating.

Cremains will be buried at Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville, at a later date.

CAMPBELL, Ohio – Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John Catholic Church, for Dominic A. Sposetti, 76, who passed away on Tuesday, February 13.

Dom was born December 24, 1941, in Youngstown, the son of Dominic and Lucille Papale Sposetti.

He was a 1961 graduate of East High School and was proudly crowned the prom king his senior year.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Dom held the rank of Specialist E.S. at Fort Dix, New Jersey, A Company Special Troops.

He was employed at Westinghouse Electric for 19 years until it closed in 1982. He then went to work for Covelli Enterprises until 2002.

Dom loved spending time with his granddaughter, Alyssa, who he adored.

He enjoyed cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes and the Minnesota Vikings.

Dom was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John Catholic Church in Campbell.

His wife and the love of his life, the former Linda Joachim Sposetti, whom he married March 4, 1967, passed away June 4, 2014.

Dom leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons, Dominic Sposetti (fiancée, Angela) and stepdaughter Emma, all of Austintown and Michael (Debra) Sposetti of Struthers and his granddaughter, Alyssa.

Dom was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda.

The Sposetti family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Sunday, February 18 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Melvin Eugene Donham Obituary

PARIS TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Melvin E. Donham (Tuffy) age 76 of Paris Township made his final journey home on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born August 2, 1941 in Diamond, Ohio, the son of Helen (Stewart) Donham and Ernest William Donham.

He attended Southeast High School.

He and Lynna Woolard were married on November 9, 1962 having celebrated their 55 anniversary in 2017.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served three years.

Growing up he worked on farms throughout Diamond and the Diamond Feed Mill. He retired in 1999 after 33 years of service at General Motors in Lordstown. He served on the Paris Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years and also was a EMT.

He faithfully attended Wayland Community Church and was a member of the Portage County Knife Club and the UAW #1112.

He enjoyed working outside and fishing. He coached Little League when his children played baseball and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He was a devoted husband and father and his greatest joy was having his family around him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by daughter, Melanie (John) Erbe of Diamond; sons, Melvin T. (Rebecca) Donham of Brady Lake, Ohio and Matthew (Tesa) Donham of Paris Township. He leaves his grandchildren, Ethan and Seth Erbe, Matthew, Rachel and Nicole Donham and Anthony Donham. He also leaves his first great-grandchild, Donavan Donham and many nieces and nephews that he loved and were very special to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, John and James; sisters, Ladonna Gbur, Patricia McMahan, Beatrice Ross and Karen Beckett.

His family wishes to thank Hospice of Portage County, the medical staff at UH Robinson Hospital.

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 17 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Holbrook officiating the service.

Melvin will be laid to rest at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Township, Ohio.

Glenn Leroy Weaver Obituary

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – Glenn Leroy Weaver, age 78, of New Middletown, Ohio, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

He was born on February 25, 1939 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Bruce F. Weaver and Rachael (Harding) Weaver.

Glenn married the love of his life, Sally A. Jones, on April 20, 1968 and they have enjoyed 47 years of marriage together until she passed away on December 22, 2015.

Glenn served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1963.

He has lived in New Middletown, Ohio for the past 11 years, formerly of Lake Milton.

Glenn has worked for Polson Rubber as a supervisor for 14 years, then worked as a truck driver for P.A.M. Transport for 28 years retiring in 1996.

He loved to go camping, fishing, being with family and friends and especially his dog, Precious.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sally; four sisters, Margaret Main, Ruth Thompson, Jean L. Lelesch and Dolores Weaver and one brother, Thomas Weaver.

He is survived by three daughters, Dianna Williams and her fiancé, Steve Markovich of Cortland, Ohio, Tonya Weaver and her fiancé, Dan Grisez of New Middletown, Ohio and Tiffany (Andrew) Ross of New Middletown, Ohio; one son, Joseph Weaver of Leavittsburg and seven grandchildren.

Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

Glenn will be laid to rest beside his wife, Sally, at Eckis Cemetery in Lake Milton.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 16 at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., for Mrs. Barbara E. “Sue” Cottle, 64, Youngstown, who departed this life on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Mrs Cottle was born February 22, 1953, in Amarillo, Texas, a daughter of Joseph B. and Charlotte J. Easton Profanchik.

She was a homemaker.

She leaves her husband, Ernest K. Cottle, Sr., whom she married July 3, 1981; children, Ernest K. Cottle II, Gerald Banks, Jr., Kandice (Marcus) Morgan, Belinda Banks Profanchik and Tina Sherene; brother, Johnny (Michelle) Profanchik; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a special grandson, Khalei Thorton Cottle whom she reared and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph and William Profanchik and a granddaughter, Tracee Banks.

Paul Heinz Rothbrust, Sr. Obituary

SALEM, Ohio – Paul Heinz Rothbrust, Sr., age 89 of Salem, died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

He was born June 16, 1928 in Giesen, Germany, the son of the late Leonhard and Clara Gee (Lorenz) Rothbrust.

Paul retired in 1990 after 30 years as a grinder for the former Eljer Industries, Inc.

He was a member of the Saxons Retirees.

Survivors include his wife, Anneliese (Simon) Rothbrust, whom he married July 30, 1949; five sons, Joe (LuAnn) Rothbrust of Chagrin Falls, Tony (Bunny) Rothbrust of Salem, Paul Rothbrust, Jr. of Salem, John Rothbrust of Beloit and James (Kathy) Rothbrust of Meadville, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Gisela (Bud) Hiltbrand of Salem; a sister, Inge Schmalkoke; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A son, Herman H. Rothbrust preceded him in 2001 and a sister, Erika Steffens also preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with his nephew, Richard Vogt officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 16 at the funeral home prior to services.

Attorney Charles E. Wern, Jr. Obituary

HOWLAND, Ohio – Attorney Charles Edward Wern, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side following a brief illness on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

He was born November 11, 1932, in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Charles E Wern, Sr. and Mary (Lyke) Wern.

He was a 1950 graduate of Vienna High School, Duke University 1954, where he played both basketball and baseball and Ohio Northern Law school 1959.

Chuck served in the U.S. Army for two years from 1954-1956.

He married the love of his life, Maureen Ann McGlone on November 24, 1990. They shared a long and happy marriage filled with love, respect and laughter.

There was nothing in the world that gave him more pride then his three children, all of whom followed his footsteps and entered the Practice of Law. Chuck practiced law in the Warren area for over 57 years. His practice focused on estate planning and corporate law.

After his military service, he played professional baseball and basketball in Europe for two years before returning to the states to attend law school.

His passion for sports never faded. He coached JFK baseball and golf, he was an avid golfer winning several area events including the TCC Club Championship. He was the co-chair for two of the LPGA tournaments when the tour was coming to the valley. He never ceased the enjoyment of competition. He was an avid reader and thrived on the mental challenge of playing bridge, gin, poker and Texas Hold ‘Em. He crossed off a big “Bucket List Item” when he became a minority owner of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. For the past 18 seasons Chuck and Maureen hosted over 50 Scrapper players. He “loved the game”.

Chuck always believed you have an obligation to support your community whenever the opportunity presents itself. He lived that philosophy, serving on numerous committees and events throughout his life in the Mahoning Valley. Specifically, he served over a span of 20 years on the Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corporation, serving as its Chairman for three different terms. He served as both and past and present Chairman of the Warren Commerce Industrial Park, which has recently been renamed the Charles E Wern, Jr., Commerce Park. He was a Trustee of Warren General Hospital for several years, Chair of the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund Drive, Chairman and Trustee of the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra Association, Trustee of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley and most recently served on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross.

He was a recipient of the American Heart Association’s “Heart of The Community” award honoring heart patients who give of their time and talent to the community.

He will be deeply missed by his wife; three children and eight grandchildren, Atty. Happy (Atty. Giovanni) DiCenso, Luca, Rocco and Valentina of Pepper Pike, Atty. Charles E Wern III, (Melissa) Chase, Cole and Clay of Denver, Colorado, Atty. Theodore (Ted)(Georgia) Wern, Evan and Owen of Chicago ILllinois; his sister, Marjorie Turner, Gillette, Wyoming; in-laws, James McGlone, Struthers, Kitty (William) Brown, Canfield, John (Sally) McGlone, Jamestown, Pennsylvania, Michael (Lori) McGlone, Boardman, Ohio, Matthew (Judi) McGlone, Canfield, Ohio, Lorraine McGlone, Hudson, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Peg and Joe McGlone; his brother-in-law, Joseph McGlone; a niece, Jaqueline Turner; nephew, Chet Turner; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

CHAMPION, Ohio – David E. Conley, 64, of Champion, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his home.

He was born March 15, 1953 in Akron, the son of Carl and Cecelia Conley, and had lived in northeast Ohio all his life.

A graduate of Rootstown High School, David had worked as a tow motor operator with Kraftmaid.

An exceptional painter, he also enjoyed motorcycles.

Fond memories of David live on with his beloved wife, Patricia (Keffer) Conley, whom he married Aprill 10, 1981; two sons, David Matthew (Cherry Langham) and Michael Joshua Conley; a granddaughter, Arabella Gray; a sister; four brothers and many friends.

His parents precede him in death.

Per David’s request, cremation is taking place.

Services are private.

MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio – Rachel A. Norton died peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Vista of the Ridge in Mineral Ridge.

She was born July 10, 1946 to Henry and Zona (Duley) Peters in Grafton, West Virginia.

Rachel is survived by sons, Joseph L. Norton, Florida and Richard Smith, Pennsylvania and Winnie Smith, Michigan; as well as four sisters, Maggie Peters, Fairmont, West Virginia, Jane (Harry) Pfund, Warren, Ohio, Stacy Peters, Warren, Ohio and Ruth Peters, Warren, Ohio and a brother, Truman (Yvonne) Peters, Florida.

Rachel was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and greatly enjoyed watching old movies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Sonny” Ross Norton; parents, Henry and Zona Peters; as well as sisters, Delphia Drummond, Sherly Peters and Margie Williamson and brothers, Arthur, Jerry, Henry and George.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at McFarland-Barbee Family Funeral Home, 271 North Park Avenue, Warren, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Yesudas Devadan officiating.

WARREN, Ohio – Janice L. Jacobs, 68, passed away peacefully at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Howland.

She was born in Warren, Ohio on September 5, 1949 the daughter of John Carl and Edna C. (Clemens) Jacobs, Jr.

She graduated in 1967, the first graduating class at Western Reserve High School.

Janice worked for 38 years as a secretary in the purchasing department at Delphi and retired in 2013 after working as a receptionist at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Niles.

She cherished the activities with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Janice is survived by three children, Todd (Kelly) Dubasik of Girard, Aimee (Edward) Eve of Cortland and Michael Zydyk and fiancée, Melissa Wise of Vienna; five grandchildren, Hannah Kerr, Ethan Kerr, Aidan Kerr, Brooklynn Zydyk and Blake Zydyk; former spouse, Tom Dubasik with whom she lived and a brother, Philip A. (Ila) Dean, Sr. of Cortland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Wendy Dubasik.

Calling Hours will be Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.

The funeral will be Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Chaplain Carol Yablonovsky will officiate.

Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

SALEM, Ohio – James Robert Davis, age 62 of Salem, died at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

He was born October 13, 1955 in Salem, the son of the late Robert E. and Deborah (Vincent) Davis.

James was employed as a maintenance electrician for American Standard and previously employed at Genie Garage Door in Alliance.

He was a 1974 graduate of West Branch High School, a member of the Amvets Post 45, Independent Hose Company, Italian American Club and Salem Hunting Club.

James was a Civil War enthusiast and enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly (Smith) Davis, whom he married May 20, 1979; three sons, Eric (Chelsea) Davis of Boardman, Jeff Davis of Salem and Josh (Kacie) Davis of Salem; a sister, Carol (Ted) Adams of Aurora, Colorado; mother-in-law, Shirley Petti of Salem and four grandchildren, Golden, Khloe, Amiah and Sophia.

Calling hours will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.

No services will be held.

Marian Irene Izak Obituary

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Marian Irene Izak, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, February 13, 2018, at Meridian Arms Living Center in Austintown.

Marian was born May 4, 1924, in Ambridge, Pennsylvania and was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Chomiak Izak.

Marian came to Ohio in 1967, settling in Salem before moving to Austintown in 1978.

She was a 1942 graduate of Ambridge High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education in 1948 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. In 1952, Marian earned a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in New York City.

Marian was a teacher for 30 years in the Aliquippa, Wellsville and United Local School Districts. Afterwards, she served for many years as a teacher, music director and cantor at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown and she was also the part-time music director at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown

She was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church and a member of the Secular Third Order of Franciscans.

Marian leaves nieces and nephews, Karen (John Cisine) Barr of Canfield, Ronald (Bonnie Stevens) Barcikowski of Portland, Oregon, Michael (Susan) Izak of Renton, Washington and Rebecca Izak of Jacksonville, Florida.

A sister, Dorothy Barcikowski and a brother, Michael R. Izak, preceded Marian in death.

Family and friends may call from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, on the northeast corner of Kirk and Raccoon Roads in Austintown, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will be at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Ambridge.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marian’s name to St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, at the Zionhill Baptist Church, for Mrs. Arletha Coleman, 94, Youngstown, who departed this life on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, in Park Vista Ohio Living.

Mrs Coleman was born February 24, 1923, in Thomasville, Georgia, a daughter of David F. and Rosalee Glenn Wilson.

She was a homemaker, a member of the church and it’s Missionary Society, a member of the E.O.B.A. Laymen Department of Baptist Association and Four square block watch. She was a universal Missionary for all and pioneer in all activities.

Her husband, James Lester Coleman whom she married June, 1939, died March 29, 1985.

She leaves children, James Ronald (Elizabeth) Coleman, Larry, David and Curtis Coleman, Joyce (Benjamin) Davidson, Carol Owens and Betty DuBose; brother, Frank (Mattie) Fulton; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Lester Coleman, Jr.; three sisters and four brothers.

Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to services.

Interment will be Greenhaven Memorial Gardens

BOARDMAN, Ohio – Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 19 at the Fox Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Edward P. Noga for Alex Z. Thomas, 24, of Boardman, who passed away Tuesday, February 13 from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Alex was born June 25, 1993 in Youngstown, a son of Damian C. and Stacey L. Trafan Thomas.

He attended Amherst High School in Lorain County.

Alex had a great passion for cooking and had worked at several restaurants.

He had an infectious laugh and loved to help other people.

Besides his parents, Alex leaves to cherish his memory, sisters, Haley Thomas of Youngstown and Makiah Fairchild of Aurora; brothers, Seth Fairchild of Aurora, Michael Fitzpatrick of Poland and Ethan Thomas of Lorain; grandmothers, Cindy L. Thomas and Maureen Ramsey both of Youngstown and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Alex is preceded in death by a grandfather, Clifford A. Thomas.
