MCDONALD, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – With sadness we announce the passing of Jason Frantz, age 44, of McDonald, Ohio. 

He was born in Youngstown on September 30, 1975 to Denise (Frantz) Fleischer and the late Edward Swart.

Besides his beloved mother,  Jason is also survived by his uncle, James (Susan) Frantz; aunt, Mary Frantz; cousins, James (Nikki) Frantz III, Zach (Meagan) Frantz and other family members.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Beatrice (Cope) Frantz.

James P. Alexander, Jr., Jamestown, PA

JAMESTOWN, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – James P. Alexander, Jr., age 49, of Main Street, Jamestown, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, February 19, 2020 in the emergency room of Butler Health System.

He was born in Greenville on March 7, 1970 to James P. Alexander, Sr. and Barbara J. (Johnson) Alexander.

Jim was a 1988 graduate of Greenville High School and had served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He was currently employed by Star Flite Systems, Inc., Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania.

Jim enjoyed tinkering with cars, especially his 1976 Trans Am and he loved his dogs.

He is survived by his mother of Grove City; his son, James P. Alexander III and his wife, Witnie, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and two brothers, Ray W. Alexander of Virginia and Michael S. Alexander and his wife, Dawn, of Hermitage.

He was preceded in death by his father and maternal grandmother, Helen Johnson.

Cremation was chosen and services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Inurnment will be in St. Michael Cemetery.

Barbara “Bo” E. Peyatt, Warren, Ohio

WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Barbara “Bo” E. Peyatt, age 81, of Warren, passed away peacefully Monday, February 17, 2020 at Hospice House in Poland.  

She was born January 8, 1939 in Nicholas County, West Virginia, the daughter of James I. and Mary F. (Deeds) Butler, moving to Ohio in the 1950s.

A graduate of Richwood High School in West Virginia, Barbara was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed crossword and wordsearch puzzles. She took great pride in how she took care of her house.

Precious memories of Barbara live on with her three children, Robin Kennedy (William) of Warren, David Peyatt (Florence) of Ocala, Florida and James Peyatt (Beth) of Warren; six grandchildren, Rachel L. Kennedy (Michael), David L. Peyatt, Melissa R. Peyatt, James Peyatt, Jr., Amanda R. Peyatt and Andrew J. Peyatt; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Nathan, Victoria, David III, Michael, Autumn and Michael, Jr.; one great-great-grandchild, Branson Everett Allen Adelman; six sisters, Wilma Jean Bunner of Navarre, Florida Laura Kay Mullens of Sherrard, Illinois Connie Thrasher of Loveland, Ohio, Sherry Bailey (Lewis) of Craigsville, West Virginia, Linda Rice of Moline, Illinois and Jerri Workman of Craigsville; three brothers, Larry Butler (Mona Jean) of Craigsville, Randy Butler (Kathy) of Craigsville and Michael Butler of Craigsville and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her loving husband of 53 years, Chester Peyatt, whom she married March 20, 1957 and who passed October 27, 2010; one sister, Nyoka F. Christian and two brothers, William E. Butler and Jimmy Butler.

Cremation is taking place.  

Services are private.  

Her urn will be laid to rest in West Virginia at a later date.

Ann Brown Sandrock, Salem, Ohio

SALEM, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Ann Brown Sandrock 84, of Salem, died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Salem Ohio on July 6, 1935, daughter of the late Maurice and Fanny (Brown) Sandrock.

Ann spent an enjoyable Salem childhood attending Reilly Grade School and graduating from Salem High School in 1953. Ann then attended and graduated from Stephens College in 1955 and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree from the college of education at Ohio State University in 1957.

Ann showed her adventurousness by packing up and heading to California where she taught grade school for 31 years (1958-1989) in the South San Francisco School District. Ann absolutely loved teaching. She had interest and compassion for all her students but especially for those who found school a challenge. Coaching and supporting those children was her strength. Ann loved San Francisco and its diversity of people and opportunities. Ann returned to Salem in 1989.

Ann loved and stayed engaged with her extended family including her brother, Richard, his wife Ellen, their three children, as well as, Ann’s nine great-nieces and nephews, Tate and his wife, Claire and their children, Owen and Lucia from Maine; Ryan and his wife, Awet and their children, Solomon, Gideon and Seble from California and Megan and her children, Mwezi, Dustin, Annabelle and Eleanor from Wisconsin. They were all very important to her and she tracked their interests and activities.

Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in and supported many Salem charitable organizations.

The family very much appreciates the love and care she received from many including Grace Woods Senior Living, Salem Regional Medical Center (doctors and nurses), Community Hospice and our loving supportive friends Mary and Mary–we are forever grateful. 

There will be no public calling hours or funeral services held. 

It was Ann’s choice to have a private family gathering and burial in Grandview Cemetery in Salem.

Janet Mae Jury, Salem, Ohio

SALEM, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Janet Mae (Kring) Jury 69, of Salem, died at 9:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Salem Regional Medical Center, Salem.

She was born on November 17, 1950, in Salem, the daughter of the late William and Betty Jane (Reese) Kring.

She had worked at Ort Furniture Company for 27 years.

She is survived by her children, Jenny Lynn Isaacs of Lisbon and stepson, William Jury of Salem; siblings, her twin, Joyce (Sherman) Johnson and Linda (Kevin) Baker both of Lisbon, Cindy (Brack) Gentry of Carrollton, Vicky (Curt) Lillie of Hanoverton, Valerie (Michael) Trimm of Greenville, South Carolina and Stephen (Kimberly) Rendziniak of Salem; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on March 20, 2010, by her husband, Robert Jury; sister, Rebecca Kaye Weyand and siblings, Louis Kring and Shirley Woodworth.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, February 22 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The family is asking that friends and family come to spend time and visit when they are able during the visiting times.

She will be laid to rest in Hope Cemetery in Salem.

Edrow W. “Big Ed” Stargell, Liberty, Ohio

LIBERTY, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Mr. Edrow Walter “Big Ed” Stargell, 80, of Liberty, Ohio, entered eternal rest on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Mr. Stargell, affectionately known as “Big Ed”, was born September 25, 1939 in Warren, Ohio.  He was the son of Walter E. and Lucille Dowe Stargell. 

He was a graduate of Bazetta High School and had been employed as a millwright at Delphi Packard Electric, retiring with over 35 years of service. 

He was a member of the IUE Local 717, the NAACP and AARP. 

Ed enjoyed playing the trombone. He loved music, especially jazz. Ed enjoyed old cars, fishing, traveling, grilling, cooking and was an enthusiast of all sports. 

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He leaves to mourn his passing but to rejoice in his eternal peace, his wife, the former Evelyn Monroe, whom he married August 2, 1986; four children, Jerel (Shawntae) Williams of Warren, Crystal Stargell of Champion, Kimberly (Sean Lamborne) Stargell of Frisco, Texas and Brian Williams of Pembroke Pines, Florida; three grandchildren; a brother, Walter (Josephine) Stargell of Atlanta, Gerogia; a sister, Loretta Frazier of Warren and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Edrow W. Stargell II and Kathryn Stargell and three siblings, Alvin, Arthur Lee and Josephine Stargell.

Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home. A memorial celebration of Edrow Stargell’s beloved life and legacy will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Nathaniel Hayes West, Youngstown, Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Nathaniel Hayes West 81, lovingly known as “Nate”, peacefully went to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 15, 2020 surrounded by family. 

Nate was born February 12, 1939 in Pelham, Georgia, a son of James B., Sr. and Ethel M. Hayes West.  

Nate was a 1957 graduate of Chaney High School and was very active in sports, including basketball, football and track.

He was also a boxer in the Golden Glove Boxing League where he spared former professional boxer Earnie Shavers. 

He enjoyed golf, chess, western movies and most of all spending time with his family. 

He received the Lord Jesus in 1960 under Katherine Khulman Ministry. He served as a deacon under Bishop R.S. Fields at Ridge Avenue C.O.G.I.C. and a minister under David Minor of Faith Temple Church of God In Christ. He was an ordained Associate Pastor at Holy Hill Church under Rev. Minich. 

Nate retired from Brinks Armor Service as a Courier in 2005. 

He attended Victory Christian Center Coitsville Campus.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 59 years Pastor Rita West; his six children, Nathaniel, Jr. (Tyraine) of Orlando, Florida, Martaine West of Youngstown, Ohio, Vaughn (Kim) West of Canton, Ohio, Carla West of Germantown, Maryland, Darla (David) Ford of Struthers, Ohio and Felecia West of Youngstown, Ohio; a sister, Helen Jefferson also of Youngstown; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters, Rose Steel, Lucille and Mamie West, Daisy Silas, Bertha Crozier, Fannie Dobbs, Mary Clark and Bessie Kelley and four brothers, Julius, James, Jr., Ernest and Samuel West.

Services will be Friday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Christian Center Coitsville Campus.  Friends may call one hour prior to the services 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Mary Jurek, 96, was carried to her heavenly home by the angels late Sunday evening, February 16, 2020, at Omni Manor Nursing Home.

Mary was born September 8, 1923, in Tarnopol, Poland and immigrated to America and Youngstown in 1946.
    
Mary was a beloved wife and homemaker who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family.
    
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Youngstown and was also a member of the Krakusy Lodge for more than 40 years.

Mary enjoyed camping, picnics, going on vacations, dancing, taking bus trips and most importantly, spending time with her family.
    
Her husband, Ted Jurek, to whom she was lovingly married for 65 years, passed away September 1, 2010.

She leaves two daughters, Irene (Mark) Len of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Patricia (David) Andello of Youngstown; her son, Ted (Marlene) Jurek of Struthers; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Tricia, Leslie, Marc, Gina, Wendy, Timothy, Teddy and Martina and ten great-grandchildren.

Private services were held Friday, February 21, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, with private committal taking place at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, where Mary was laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

Robert E. Turner, Sr., Lordstown, Ohio

LORDSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Robert “Bob” E. Turner, Sr., 75, of Lordstown, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown.

Bob was born November 17, 1944 in Columbus, the son of the late Noel L. and Margaret L. (Lanning) Turner.

Bob is a 1963 graduate of North Ridgeville High School.

Upon graduation, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Prior to his retirement in 1998, he worked at General Motors as a press operator for over 30 years.

Bob was a member of the Lordstown Lions Club and the RC Barnstormers.

Bob loved mowing grass and tinkering around the garage. Bob was a self-proclaimed “jack of all trades, master of none.” He appreciated the simple things in life such as feeding and watching the birds. Bob loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ruby H., whom he married December 9, 1967; his children, Judy L. (Donald “Kenny”) Musser, Jennifer Mohn, Robert E. (Jennifer) Turner, Jr. and Timothy P. Turner; his siblings, Carol Painter, Noel “Tom” (Lee) Turner, Larry (Sheila) Turner, Peggy (Darrell) Oskins and Liane Shields and his grandchildren, Kayleigh, Scott, Bobby, Alyssa and Ashleigh.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 23 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

COLUMBIANA, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Dale R. Gorby, 77, a longtime resident of Columbiana County, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Hospice House in Poland.

Dale was born December 5, 1942 in Middleton Township, Ohio, son of the late Wilbur and Florence McCoy Gorby.

He was a 1960 graduate of Beaver Local High School.

He was a member of East Fairfield United Methodist Church.

He was employed with PGT Trucking for 45 years as a driver and dispatcher before retiring in 2006. After retirement, he worked as a delivery driver for Lemon Tree Florist in Columbiana for eight years.

When not working, he enjoyed bowling, softball and most especially working outdoors caring for his yard.

Dale is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen Hill Gorby; son, Scott Gorby; two daughters, Annette (Stephen) Welday and Melissa (Christopher) Oberle; brother, Sam (Pamela) Gorby; sister, Joyce Pethel; grandson, Michael (Melanie) Oberle; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Maddox and his faithful companion, Mandy Sue.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 24 at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 SR 558, New Waterford, Ohio.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25 at the church with Rev. Deb Quillen officiating.

CANFIELD, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Nicholas “Nick” David Scheetz passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020.

He was born June 24, 1989 in Salem, son of Michael and Patricia (Hoops) Scheetz.

The world lost an amazing, adventurous, loving and caring spirit. Anyone who knew him felt his energy and enthusiasm. Nick was a kind-hearted man who was making his way in this harsh world and has moved on to explore the peace he finds on the other side. We will greatly miss your smile, sense of humor and love for everyone and things around you.

He had worked for Holistic Industries in New Castle, Pennsylvania. His passion was organic farming.

Nick grew up in the Greenford Lutheran Church.

He loved the outdoors, camping, hiking and gardening.

He was a 2008 graduate of South Range High School where he was a three-time spelling bee champion, wrestled, played soccer, was in the band and a member of National Honor Society.

Besides his parents, survivors include maternal grandfather, Clyde Hoops of Salem; paternal grandmother, Elaine Worrell of Austintown; steppaternal grandmother, Mavis Scheetz of Canfield; brother, Brad (Raquel) Scheetz of Greenford and three nieces, Samantha, Alice and Olivia.

Maternal grandmother, Jean Hoops and paternal grandfather, Ralph Scheetz preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Greenford Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Knauff officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at Stark Memorial and 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22 at the church.

Martha Ann Bastress Koran, Sharon, PA

SHARON, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Martha Ann Bastress Koran quietly passed on Friday, February 7, 2020 after an extended illness. 

She was the daughter of Gladys Irene Graham Bastress and James Edward Bastress of Sharon Pennsylvania, both of whom are deceased and a sister of Nancy Ella Bastress Hofius. 

She was a graduate of Hickory High School and was a member of the orchestra. She played violin and was first chair. She was also a member of the marching band where she played clarinet. She graduated from Youngstown State in 1973 with a degree in music education. She met her husband Dale while attending college and married him in 1973. 

She leaves behind her husband of 37 years, Dale Eugene Koran; her daughter, Michelle Koran Rush and her husband, Phil Rush; grandchildren, Lilly and Fiona of Boston, Massachusetts; her son, Jaime Koran and his wife, Michelle and grandchildren, Sebastian, Nicholas and Michaela of Clear Lake, Texas; her sister, Nancy Hofius and her husband, Thomas Hofius and their son, Jason of San Diego, California. 

Martha begin her teaching career in Ohio and then moved to Houston, Texas. She taught at several middle schools in Alief ISD. She retired from her teaching career at Kerr High School. She and her very talented students individually and collectively won many first place awards from the State of Texas. She also gave private lessons in violin, viola and cello to many students. She has had a great impact on her students and teachers as well and will be greatly missed by all.

She was a member of Fort Bend Symphony and founding member String Theory. String Theory is a group of string players that donate their time to play different functions in and around the Houston area. 

In her spare time she loved gardening and took classes from Texas A&M to get a Master of Gardening degree. She was so dedicated to working with wild life that her home was declared a Texas Wildlife Habitat. Another favorite pastime was sewing; she counted quilting (taught by her sister) and garment making among the many items she loved to sew. 

Martha had a wonderful life and will be greatly missed by everyone who has ever met her. 

Celebration of Life to be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at University of Houston Chapel.

NILES, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Heather A. Bako, 40, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, after a short illness.

She was born December 31, 1979, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of David Berensci and Karen Bako.

A life long area resident, Heather attended Niles McKinley High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles.

Heather is survived by a son, Zian Bako and a daughter, Maleigha Bako, both at home; two sisters, Alissa (Lester) Cox of Youngstown, Ohio and Megan (Devin) Wilmouth of New Middletown, Ohio; an aunt, Susan (Ed) Lawrence of Warren, Ohio and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her uncle, Nick Bako.

Funeral services will be 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 611 Robbins Avenue, Niles, Ohio. Family and friends may call 5:30 p.m. till time of service.

NILES, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – George A. Wrataric 83, died at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Hospice House in Poland. 

He was born in Niles on August 24, 1936 the son of George and Emiley (McElhaney) Wrataric.

He worked in the melt shop at Copperweld Steel for 44 years and retired in August of 1999.

George and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Florida. Most of all he cherished the time spent at the grandchildren’s sporting games. 

George is survived by two sons, George (Trish) Wrataric of Hubbard and Jeff (Diana) Wrataric of Poland; six grandchildren, Bryce, Zach, Madison, Jake, Luke and Allison and two brothers, Randy Wrataric of Niles and Gary Wrataric of Niles. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith A. “Judy” Killin Wrataric, whom he married on June 16, 1956 and who died on July 30, 2013. 

There are no calling hours or funeral service. Inurnment will be in Niles City Cemetery.

HOWLAND, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Richard Duane Walters of Howland, Ohio passed away, Wednesday, February 19, at Trumbull Regional Hospital.

Richard “Dick” was born October 19, 1928 in Warren, Ohio , the son of the late William S. and Iva Mae (Shumaker) Walters.

Dick was a June 1947 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He attended Ohio State University and completed his education with La Salle Business School.

He was employed as an assistant to the auditor at Packard Electric. After leaving Packard he joined the CPA firm of Brooke, Baringer and Moffit. Dick eventually opened his own firm, Richard Walters & Company CPA, in 1960, first on Woodland Avenue and then he and his wife remodeled a home on N. Park Avenue, where he ran his business until retiring in 1980.

On December 18, 1949 he married his childhood sweetheart, Lotus and they enjoyed 70 years together.

Dick was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the Financial and Audit Committee. He was currently a member of Howland United Methodist Church.

Dick was a 65 year member of Carroll F. Clapp Masonic Lodge, which merged with Cortland Lodge No. 529 F&AM.

Dick and Lotus enjoyed visiting historic cities, with their favorite being Williamsburg, Virginia. Always an Ohio State fan, he and Lotus enjoyed going to Columbus to see them play.

He leaves behind his wife, Lotus to cherish his memory, as well as, his good friend, Adam Ritchie.

A private service will take place and he will be laid to rest at Home Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.

STRUTHERS, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Edward C. Wurm, 99, passed away on Thursday, February 20, at Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers.

Edward was born on February 8, 1921 in Youngstown, the son of the late John and Helen (Krishner) Wurm.

He was a lifelong resident of Struthers and a parishioner at Christ Our Saviour/St. Nicholas Church.

Edward graduated from Scienceville High School and was employed at the General Fireproofing Company for 37 years.

He married Rita Laprocino on April 19, 1947. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage until her death on June 10, 2017.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John Wurm, Leo Wurm, Joe Koch, Anna Taylor, Til Kinney, Marie Williams and Anna Smith.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Chrystal) Wurm of Dublin, Marcia (Herb) Reed of Tennessee and Carol Weaver of Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Greg (Megan) Thurik, Krissy (Reagan ) Bollig, Sara (Don) Shields and Kerri (Adam) Kalman and four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Mya, Kayla Shields and Connor Bollig.

Edward enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He was admired by all who knew him for his dedication, adaptability, determination and fortitude. He will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Maplecrest for the respectful and loving care they provided Ed. He really enjoyed the staff and the great food.

Per Ed’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services.

A family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

His care was entrusted to the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.

HUBBARD, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Timothy Shahan, 57, passed away Wednesday morning, February 19, 2020 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital with his family by his side.

Tim was born on December 6, 1962 in Madison, Ohio, a son of the late David and Lucille Shahan.

He was a graduate of Newton Falls High School and worked with construction and technology.

He was active with Living Waters Community Church, especially with the food pantry.

He loved to travel to West Virginia to visit his family. Tim was a hard-working, selfless and giving man and would help anyone with anything, even if they didn’t ask him.

Tim will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Doreen Shahan, whom he married on February 14, 1997; his son, Timothy (Tiffany) Shahan and their son, Hunter Shahan; stepmother, Kathern Shahan; brothers, Mike (Becky) Shahan and Jeff (Dianne) Shahan; sister, Karen (Tony) Carcell and his extended family of six stepchildren, many grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Shahan.

Family and friends may visit from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Lane Family Funeral Homes – Madasz Chapel located at 6923 Warren Sharon Road in Brookfield, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Gary Jones.

NEW CASTLE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Melissa Ann Black, 47, of North Ray Street, died Monday, February 17, 2020 at UPMC Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born September 2, 1972 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Russell Black and Mary Lou (Graham) Black, her mother survives in New Castle.

Melissa worked in customer service for Walmart.

She enjoyed reading, doing sudoku puzzles and taking care of her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her mother she is survived by six children, David Quear and Jamie Brown, Michelle Quear, Michael Quear and Shanea Estes, William Quear and Dawna Clark, Fayth Sobona and Britni Clark; her former significant other, David E. Quear and her boyfriend, Paul Hines; two brothers, Joseph and Robert Black; three sisters, Katherine Silvester, Tabitha Black, and Tiffany Black and ten grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Miller will be officiating. 

Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.

Dolores “Doe” Ruth Roberts, Warren, Ohio

WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Dolores “Doe” Ruth Roberts peacefully passed away at home with family by her side on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.

She was born August 31, 1930 in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of William and Cecelia (Dean) Roberts.

She graduated from Warren G Harding High School in 1948 and resided in the Warren area all her life.

Doe was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren where she sang tenor in the choir for over 40 years. She was a dedicated member of her church and participated in numerous church groups.

Doe took great pride in being a devoted homemaker. She was an avid reader, an accomplished pianist, and an occasional harmonica player. Doe cherished spending time with her family, especially holiday gatherings and her yearly family vacation to Gem Beach on Lake Erie.

Doe is survived by her two daughters, Susie (Gary) Wireman and Becky (Jim) Lough and son, Bill Seagreaves, all of Vienna; grandchildren, Ben (Shannon) Wireman, Bethany (Mike) Sasanecki, Brittany (Dr. Douglas) Muccio and John Wayne (Samantha) Carroll and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, M.A. (Dr. John) Vlad and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Willie and Gunner Dunmire.

The family will receive visitors in the parlor at the First Presbyterian Church in Warren on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., with a Memorial Service immediately following.

They also ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of the Valley, Trumbull Branch.

Thomas E. “TEW” White, Cortland, Ohio

CORTLAND, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Thomas E. “TEW” White, 73, died Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in Kinsman, Ohio.

Tom was born January 22, 1947, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Edward A. and Doris Mae (Cline) White.

He was a graduate of Howland High School Class of 1965 and worked for Packard Electric in Warren for 35 years.

Tom was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1012, Moose Heart, Moose Haven and Autism Speaks Darts. He was also a member of the Youngstown Dart Association and the International Union of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO.

Tom was always involved in sports and in Tom’s passing, the Cleveland Indians lost one of their biggest fans. He was a left-handed pitcher who learned to bat right handed. Tom had more than one “perfect game” while bowling on Delphi Packard Bowling Leagues. In golf, he shot a hole-in-one twice in the same day. Lastly, his passion was throwing darts with his wife and son, who established a non-profit in support of Autism. 

Tom married Alberta “Berti” DePerro-Mele-White September 28, 1983. She passed away May 12, 2019

Tom leaves behind sons, Scott (Lisa) White of Southington, Christopher Dean Mele of Cortland and Phillip (Andrea) Mele of Ormond Beach, Florida and sisters, Janet Finney of Howland, Carol (Dirk) Waren of Howland and Donna (William “Skipp” ) Taylor of Liberty. Tom also leaves behind several grandchildren including, John Patrick Callahan of Howland, Izabella Zofea Mele of Ormond Beach, Florida, Abigail Ruth Mele of Ormond Beach, Florida, Christine Marie Mele of Howland and Sarah Nicole Mele of Howland.

Besides his wife, Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Thomas Edwin “Tommy” White. 

Tom loved to say to “Team America”, “Remember, don’t sweat the small stuff. Psst, it’s all small stuff.” and “Good Days and Better Tomorrows”.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m., at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.
