Dorothy Marie Zocolo Obituary

SALEM, Ohio – Dorothy Marie Zocolo, age 88, of Salem, died at 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Altercare of Alliance.

She was born January 31, 1929 in Windham, Ohio, daughter of the late Ignatz and Mary (Chmielowiec) Grondeski.

She was a 1946 graduate of Berlin Center High School. Dorothy worked at the Electric Furnace Company for 23 years as a switchboard operator and was also the former owner/operator with her husband at the Zocolo Highlander Center for 20 years.

Dorothy was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and the Salem V.F.W. Post 892 Auxiliary.

Her greatest joys in life were visiting with her children, their families and her siblings. Dorothy enjoyed bingo, playing cards, going to casinos and golfing.

Her husband, Albert C. Zocolo, whom she married June 18, 1949, preceded her in death January 14, 2000. Two brothers, Edward and Stanley Grondeski and a sister, Emily Hendrickson, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Gary R. Zocolo of Cleveland, Thomas A. Zocolo of Boardman and Jack A. (Jacqui) Zocolo of Boardman; two daughters, Jill A. (Cindy Bashaw) Zocolo of Canton and Mary Z. (Rich) Ludwig of Jacksonville, North Carolina; two sisters, Cecelia Stanulonis of Gahanna and Lucy Young of Berlin Center; one brother, Walter Grondeski of Newton Falls and grandchildren, Thomas Zocolo, Jr., and Julia (Jaime) Rodriguez, Lindsey, Amanda, Sarah and Aadam Zocolo, Chloe and Dominic Zocolo, Andrew and Christopher Umeck, and Richie Ludwig and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.

John “Jack” Michael Stanton Obituary

STRUTHERS, Ohio – Prayers will be 9:15 a.m. at the Fox Funeral Home followed a Mass of Christian burial held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish St. Matthias Church, celebrated by Rev. John M. Jerek and Rev. Martin Celuch for John “Jack” Stanton, 80, who passed away peacefully Monday Morning, February 27, with his family by his side.

Jack was born January 28, 1937 in Struthers, a son of Michael M. and Ruth Catherine Hartman Stanton, Jack was a lifelong area resident.

He went to Saint Columba Catholic School and attended Ursuline High School.

Jack served his country and was honorably discharged from the Army of the United States. Jack received his GED while serving in the Army.

He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish and St. Matthias Church and for many years was a member at St Dominic Church, where his children attended school.

Jack was a recorder for Republic and LTV Steel until his retirement in 1982, he then worked for another 12 years for BFI.

He belonged to many organizations including Catholic War Vets, Eagles 213 and the Petri Club and was the past president of The Boulevard Golf Association.

Jack was an avid Notre Dame Football fan.

Besides his wife, the former Patricia “Pat “A. Oswick whom he married September 19, 1959 at Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church, he also leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Jackie (John) Markovich of Youngstown, Patty (Bill) Kautz of Cincinnati, Jeff (Jennifer) Stanton of Rocky River, Mike (Jennifer) Stanton of Struthers, Cathy (Jerry) Fleming of Columbiana and John (fiance Amanda) Stanton of Boardman. Jack also leaves his nine grandchildren, Patrick, Daniel and Lauren Markovich, Annie and Jared Kautz, Riley Stanton, Joe Jenkins and Madison Stanton and Samantha Stanton.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Marge Mayer, Rose Bresnahan and Robert, Edward and Leo Stanton.

Friends and family may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market St. Boardman.

The Stanton family would like to Thank Dr. Armand Minotti and his Nurse Mary Kay, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home and Harbor Lights Hospice Care, for the wonderful care and respect shown towards Jack.

GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania – Michael Tommy Vigus, Sr. passed away Monday, February 27, 2017.

Michael was born on July 27, 1947 in Portales, New Mexico.

He worked in the maintenance department of the Hermitage School District.

Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to garage sales and spending time with his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife, Donna (Hayes) Vigus; two daughters, Tammy McCann and Cindy DeCiancio (Sean); a son, Michael Vigus, Jr. (Monica); a sister, Roxie Vigus (Ken Holiman), a brother, Roger Vigus (Susan); ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Addie (Sisco) Vigus and Bert L. Vigus, Sr.; a sister, Janie Vigus and two brothers, Bert Vigus, Jr. and Jerry Vigus.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 1, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon, at Transfer Baptist Church, Broad Street, Transfer, Pennsylvania.

Funeral Service will immediately follow at 12:00 Noon at the church.

Mavis Blackburn Obituary

LISBON, Ohio – Mavis Blackburn, 93, formerly of Salineville, passed away peacefully at 6:15 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017.

Mrs. Blackburn was born December 31, 1923 in McCombs, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Willie and Oka M. (Blackburn) Justice and had lived in the area since 1945.

Mavis was a homemaker and had attended the Salineville Assembly of God Church. She also enjoyed canning, making quilts and working crossword puzzles.

Her husband, Lewis Blackburn, whom she married May 10, 1939, preceded her in death January 3, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Chloe Clemens and Dorothy Meyers; son, Leslie E. Blackburn, Sr. and grandson, Craig A. Blackburn.

She is survived by her daughter, Eulevene (Tom) Whitehair of Kensington; sons, Dean (Sally) Blackburn and James W. (Pattie) Blackburn, both of Salineville; sister, Mabel Pitts of Carrollton; brother, George A. Justice of Lisbon; grandchildren, Deanna Smith, Shelly Blackburn, Kevin Blackburn, Tracy Leek, Leslie Blackburn, Jr., Michael Blackburn and Melinda Wright; several great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Fred O. May officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 3 at the funeral home.

Andrew C. Macko, Jr. Obituary

WEST SALEM TWP., Pennsylvania – Andrew C. Macko, Jr., age 64, of Garfield Ave., W. Salem Twp., passed away Monday evening, February 27, 2017 in the E.R. of UPMC Horizon Greenville, after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Macko was born in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on May 2, 1952 to Andrew C. Macko, Sr. and Lois M. (Shannon) Macko.

Andy was a 1970 graduate of Reynolds High School and for the past 30 years, he has been employed as the manager of the Majestic Grill in Greenville.

He was a 30 year member of Greenville Family Moose Center #276 and also held memberships with F.O.E. #805, B.P.O.E. #145 and Knights of Columbus Fitzmartin Council #1446.

Andy was an avid bowler for many years, enjoyed following NASCAR Racing and was a die hard Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates fan.

Survivors include his father, Andrew C. Macko, Sr. and his wife, Flora of Greenville; a daughter, Melissa Macko and her husband, Steven Greenfield of Greenville; a son, Drew C. Macko and his companion, Tanya Allen, along with her son, Alexander, all of Pittsburgh; a sister, Candy Baskin of Greenville; two grandchildren, Cody and Danny Macko; a step-brother, Ted Krueger of Greenville; a step-sister, Lorie Lynn Bowman of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his wife, Judy Macko and his previous wife, Cynthia Robblee.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Judy Uber.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

Clyde Gordon Garland Obituary

LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio – Clyde G. Garland, 82, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Washington Square Health Care Center in Warren.

He was born on April 21, 1934 in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, son of the late George A. and Laura B. (Hofius) Garland.

Clyde was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.

He married his wife, Dola J. Riddle Garland on October 25, 1952.

Clyde retired from Republic Steel in May of 1986 after working 32 years as a steelworker.

Clyde and his wife were “snow birds” and lived in Florida during the winter for many years. He loved to sing and went to karaoke frequently and also enjoyed going to flea markets. Clyde’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Clyde was very active in many groups in both Ohio and Florida: American Legion Post #699 of Leavittsburg, 40/8 Voiture #1182 of Trumbull County, Itam #29 Warren, Moose Lodge #1747 of Newport Richey, Florida, VFW #4412 and Eagles Lodge of Hudson, Florida and served as a Democratic Precinct Canvasser.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dola J. Garland; children, Gregory (Leta) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Pam of Warren, Laura of Leavittsburg, Dona of Michigan and Susan (George) of Ringgold, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Grace Berry and Barbara Stephens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Eugene; three sisters, Joan, Janet and Phyllis and a son-in-law, John Loy.

Loyd Alfred Hendershot Obituary

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – Loyd Alfred Hendershot, 86, passed away following a lingering illness at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017. He was a patient at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown and died surrounded by his loving wife and beloved family.

Loyd was born in East Liverpool on October 6, 1930, a son of the late Loyd A. and Anna Elizabeth Weber Hendershot.

He was a 1948 graduate of New Cumberland High School and soon was drafted into the U.S. Marines, where he proudly served until 1953.

For many years, he worked in office management at Weirton Steel Corporation, retiring in 1992. This gave him more time to enjoy the things he truly loved – following his grandchildren, rooting for the Steelers, planning road trips on the map, watching his favorite game shows, going to amusement parks, singing and dancing, and baking his “world-famous” chocolate chip cookies and pumpkin pies. Most of all, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

In 1986, he married his wife, Esmeralda. They may not have spoken the same language when they first met in Mexico but their devotion for one another was a true example of how love knows no bounds. They made their home in East Liverpool, and one was rarely seen without the other.

In addition to Esmeralda, he is survived by his children: daughters, Brenda Carrion of Missouri, Amalia Ehler and her husband, Robert, of Wellsville and Andrea Hendershot and her fiancé, Alejandro Ascencio of East Liverpool; along with a son, Loyd Hendershot III and his wife, Dannielle, also of East Liverpool. There are seven grandchildren, Donte Heck, Esmaria Heck, Robert Ehler, Ryan Ehler, Loyd Hendershot IV, Isabella Hendershot and Liliana Ascencio. A sister, Marjorie Southern and her husband, James, also survives as well as a niece, Cynthia Southern. In addition, Loyd also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Andrea Carrion and his faithful canine companions, Kane and Cookie.

In addition to his parents, Loyd was preceded in death by an infant sister, June Hendershot.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, March 2 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

A prayer vigil will be held Thursday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m.

Evangelist Will Montgomery will officiate at a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 3 at the funeral home.

Loyd will be buried near his parents at Calcutta Cemetery, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide military honors.

The family and friends will then gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio – John Chauncey Zimmerly, 65, of Park Avenue passed away 10:12 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 at Salem Regional Medical Center where he had been a patient.

John was born April 14, 1951 in Harrison Township, Pennsylvania, a son of the late August F. and Marie S. Mason Zimmerly.

He had been employed at at various times throughout his career as a mechanic with Nulfco.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1506, East Palestine and an avid John Wayne fan.

John is survived by two daughters, Tamara Lynn Zimmerly, East Palestine and Heather (Christopher) Cetor, Poland; a stepdaughter, Angela Marie Zimmerly, Negley; three sisters, Jacquelyn M. (Thomas) Rice, Arnold, Pennsylvania, Holly E. (Nick) Cunich, Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania and Cheryl D. (Frank) Thompson, East Palestine and two brothers, Kevin W. Zimmerly, East Palestine and Damon T. Zimmerly, Springdale, Pennsylvania. Other survivors include his nephews, Richard M. Phillips, Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, Thomas B. Rice, Michael S. Rice and Jared R. (Amber) Thompson all of East Palestine, Jordan E. (Amber) Thompson, Negley, Joel F. (Becca) Thompson, California, Daniel W. Zimmerly, Georgia, Justin A. Zimmerly, Salem and Anthony M. Zimmerly, Kensington.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, A. Robbin Zimmerly and Shawn Nelson Zimmerly.

Per John’s request, services will be private.

GIRARD, Ohio – Virginia Mae (Boop) Reapsummer, 94, formerly of Girard, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Liberty Health Care Center.

Virginia was born November 10, 1922 in Girard, Ohio.

She had worked for the Woolworth Co. in Youngstown and was a loving wife and mother.

Preceding her in death was her husband, John Reapsummer, whom she married June 5, 1945 and died April 15, 1998; her parents, Lawrence and Edna (Walters) Boop; her sisters, Mary Polander, Hilda Glay and Pauline Gatti and a brother, Lawrence Boop, Jr.

Virginia will be sadly missed by her children, Susan (John) Scheidly of Newton Falls, John “Jack” (Patty) Reapsummer of Hubbard and Tom (Natalie) Reapsummer of Girard; a sister, Betty Thomas of Hubbard; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Private services were held at Girard City Cemetery Chapel.

The family would like to thank Marylou Seydlorsky, Christina Thompon and Carrie Clayton and all the staff of Liberty Health Care Center.

SHARPSVILLE, Pennsylvania – Bonnie Lou Haines of Sharpsville passed away at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2017, in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio. She was 81.

Mrs. Haines was born April 27, 1935, in Sharon, a daughter of Raymond T. and Bertha Ferguson Cummings.

She graduated from Sharpsville High School.

Bonnie was a former member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon.

She was a homemaker and later retired from Sharon School District, where she worked in the cafeteria for 17 years.

Bonnie bowled in the Thorton Hall bowling league. She also enjoyed reading, camping and spending time with her grandson.

Surviving are her husband, Frederick Haines, whom she married on February 19, 1955; a daughter, Carol Sue Lelo and her husband, Brian, Durango, Colorado; a son, Frederick R. Haines, Sharpsville; a grandson, Michael Haines; three sisters, Katherine Christina, Hermitage; Jean Williams and her husband, Benjamin, Hubbard, Ohio and Janet Cummings, Hubbard, Ohio; a brother, Joseph Cummings and his wife, Jan, Mercer.

Bonnie was preceded in death by two infant sons; a daughter-in-law, Linda Haines; sister, MaryAnn Barris and a brother, William Cummings.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Buhl Farm Trust, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, Pennsylvania 16148.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday, March 5, 2017, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5 in the funeral home, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon.

Roxie Pelles, Lackawannock Township, Pennsylvania Obituary

LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania – Roxie Pelles of Lackawannock Township was called home to be with her Lord at 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017, in UPMC Horizon – Shenango Valley, Farrell. She was 73.

Mrs. Pelles was born January 29, 1944, in Warren, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Harry and Lucille Baker.

She graduated from Hickory High School.

Roxie had been employed by GATX, Sharon, where she worked as a switchboard operator. She also attended beautician school, managed a Lawson’s store with her sister and completed lifeguard training.

Roxie enjoyed bingo, fishing, boating and cooking, particularly for her family. She very much loved spending time at Lake Wilhelm with her husband and son. Roxie will be remembered as a very loving and compassionate mother, wife, sister and friend.

Her husband, John D. Pelles, whom she married December 20, 1976, survives at home. Also surviving are a son, Harry Pelles, Hermitage; a sister, Janice Gunsley, Sharpsville; several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Roxie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joan Podralski.

Per Roxie’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

David E. Brown, Jr. Obituary

ANDOVER, Ohio – David E. Brown, Jr., age 70, died after an extended illness on Monday, February 27, 2017 in Andover, Ohio.

He was born on July 23, 1946 in Fayetteville, West Virginia, a son of Alice Joyce (Gray) and David Ellis Brown, Sr.

Dave was a 1964 graduate of Fayetteville High School. He attended West Virginia Tech, Kent State University, Ohio University and earned his Bachelors Degree from the West Virginia University.

On July 30, 1983 he married Myra Lee Smith.

Dave has been a member of Law Enforcement since he graduated from high school. He served with the Fayette County and Ashtabula County Sheriff Department, retiring after 26 years in 1993. Dave was appointed GOP Chair in 1967, was elected to the Andover Village Council and was elected twice as Andover’s Mayor. He taught as a full time substitute at different Ashtabula County school after retiring until 1998. For over 12 years Dave was Chief of Security for Don King Productions of Orwell and New York City. Dave served as Deputy Treasurer for Robert Harvey, was on the Andover Civic Development, was Past President of the Andover Rotary Club and served as a Representative for District 7.

He founded the Ashtabula County DARE program and was State Education Chair of the DARE program. Dave was awarded by the Governor of Ohio and the Ohio State Patrolman office an award for safety.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Myra L. Brown of Andover, Ohio; two sons, Jay W. (Michelle) Riser of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Scott A. (Sarah) Brown of Winfield, West Virginia; a brother, Thomas W. (Mary Stuart) Brown of Louisville, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Chase, Noelle, Gannon and Maddie; two nieces, Mary Stuart (Puffin) Travers and Kim Gray; two nephews, Mark and Skip Gray, Jr. and three cousins, Skip (Nancy) Gray of Ashtabula, Ohio, Cork (Pat) Gray of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Greg (Mick Bailey) Grey of Charleston, West Virginia.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Andover First United Methodist Church, 181 South Main Street, Andover, Ohio.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, March 4 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover, Ohio.

The son of the late Louis and Susan (Banyon) Balog, Ed was born May 31, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio.

Ed worked for US Steel as an Electrician and as a Greenskeeper at Salem Hills.

Edward enjoyed spending his free time golfing and fishing, going to yard sales and working in the yard. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially watching his grandkids, Tyler and Hannah at their sporting events.

Ed is survived by his wife, Sandra J (Coriston) whom he married on February 6, 1965; a son, Leroy “Jeff” Thomas of Salem; three daughters, Julie Ann (Tim Thompson) Nelson of Alliance, Angela Marie Shaffer of Boardman and Jennifer L. Justice of Salem; a sister, Betty Gill of Austintown; five grandchildren, Amber and Michael (Amanda) Nelson, Tyler and Hannah Shaffer and Moriah Justice; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Kaelynn Nelson and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Jimmy and three sisters, Margaret, Judy and Helen.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Freddie Rodriguez officiating.

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service on Saturday, March 4 from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 p.m.

Military Honors will be provided by the Salem Honor Guard.

The family asks memorial contributions be made in Ed’s honor to the Alzheimers Foundation Mahoning County Chapter or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio – Byron E. Moore, 87, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

He was born on April 24, 1929 in Bingamon, West Virginia, son to the late Richard G. and Esta F. (Bryner) Moore.

Byron was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for Kleese Excavating as a mechanic and welder, retiring in November 2009.

Byron married the love of his life, the former Gladys Drain in Peoria, West Virginia, on October 19, 1953.

Byron will be remembered for the enjoyment he found working outside in his yard and garden, and going to the casino.

Left to cherish Byron’s memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Gladys Moore; his children, David (Agnes) Moore, Debra (Kevin) Kot, Denise (Jeff) Richards and Denny (Renee) Moore; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and his brothers, Robert “Hop” Moore and Douglas Moore.

In addition to his parents, Byron is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Moore; his sister, Molly Kaser and his twin sister, Barbara Mahaffey.

Private services have taken place.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Agnes M. Phillips, 88, passed away Tuesday morning, February 28, 2017, at Briarfield Manor, after a long and fulfilling life.

Agnes was born August 22, 1928, in Campbell, a daughter of the late Matthew and Julia Backus Patzak and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1946 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and was a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown, where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Agnes was also a lifelong member of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Bellevue, Illinois and she was a member of AARP.

Her husband of 64 years, Edward J. Phillips, Jr., whom she married September 3, 1949, passed away January 9, 2014.

Agnes leaves two sons, Edward R. (Diane) Phillips of Austintown and Richard A. Phillips of Austintown; a daughter, Paula (Ilario) Pace of Boardman; two grandsons, Antonio and Gino Pace and a sister, Ann Malys.

Besides her husband; two sisters, Frances Nace and Julia Delco and four brothers, Matthew Patzak, John Pacak, Andrew Patzak and Gerald Patzak are deceased.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Friday, March 3, at 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, where Agnes will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

BERLIN CENTER, Ohio – There will be a memorial service 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield Chapel for Leo F. Winchester, Jr., 74 of Berlin Center who died Tuesday, February 28 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus.

Leo was born April 21, 1942 in Ashtabula, Ohio, a son of the late Leo F. and Ruth (Mapous) Winchester, Sr.

He graduated from Mentor High School in 1962 and following graduation served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967.

Leo was an auto worker for General Motors, starting his career in Euclid and retiring from Lordstown in 2000 after 30 years.

He was involved with the Berlin Center Crime Watch.

He leaves his wife, the former Nina Downey whom he married December 13, 1980.

Besides his parents, Leo was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Winchester.

Friends may call for one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

Leo will be interred at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

STRUTHERS, Ohio – A prayer service will be held for Lisa “Lizette” Mastroberardino, 87, of Struthers on Saturday, March 4 at 9:30 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church at 10:00 a.m., both in Struthers.

Lizette passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Lizette was born January 10, 1930 in Pacentro, Italy, a daughter of Giuseppe and Angelina DiPilla DiPilla.

Lizette came to the United States in 1950.

She worked in the kitchen at the Fireplace Restaurant for several years.

She was a member of The Women’s Pacentrano Club and was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish of Struthers.

Her love of baking, especially with her friend commare Laura, cooking and spending time with her family fulfilled her life. Lizette’s door was always open to everyone. To know her was to love her. She was a saint. When she first moved into her home, she knew little English. She started making homemade bread and pizza for the neighbors which was her way of getting to know them.

Lizette married Edward Mastroberardino on October 15, 1950.

She leaves her brother, Tony (Yola) DiPilla of New Jersey; her sister, Lucia Gasbarre of California; two sons, Louis (Erin Lasher) Mastroberardino of Struthers and Edward Mastroberardino of Youngstown; two daughters, Angela M. Mastroberardino of Struthers and Sandra L. (Ted) Montague of Poland; nine grandchildren, Louie, Jr., Michael, Marc (Richelle), Jimmy (Courtney), Niki, Melodie (Danny), Melody, Brittany and Lindsay; 12 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Ava, Danny Jr., Gaetana Lizette, Nakiyah, Gavin, Oliver, Willow, Josh, River, Emma and Maria and a sister-in-law, Liana Berardino of Campbell.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Angeline Mancini; two brother-in-laws, Michael Berardino and Bruno Gasbarre and one great-grandson.
