John “Jack” Anthony Gonda Obituary

DAYTON, Ohio – John “Jack” Anthony Gonda, 78, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Bethany Village in Dayton, Ohio after an extended illness.

Jack was born in Youngstown on July 3, 1938, the son of John J. and Ann M. (Sinkovich) Gonda.

He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1956 where he was active in choir and theater.

Jack made his career in procurement, working more than 25 years with General Motors, Lordstown and retiring in 1992.

A devout Catholic, Jack was a very active member of St. Christine Parish, Youngstown. He sang in the choir and served as a dedicated volunteer.

Jack’s best roles were that of devoted husband and loving father.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Theresa E. (Pinter) Gonda. They were married in Youngstown on September 1, 1962. He also leaves behind his three children; their spouses and four grandchildren: John and Stacey (DeCrow) Gonda and son Benjamin, Findlay, Beth and Scott Schieber, son, William and daughter, Catherine, Granville and Amy and Chris Foster and son, Ryan, Bellbrook.

Besides his parents, Jack is preceded in death by a brother, Edward J. Gonda, who died as a toddler in 1935.

Family and friends may call on Monday, February 27 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, 3100 Canfield Road.

A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28 at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. at St. Christine Parish, 3165 S. Schenley Avenue with burial afterward at Calvary Cemetery.

VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating for Lois M. Gallagher, 55, who died Saturday evening, February 25, 2017 at Hospice House.

She was born August 11, 1961 in Youngstown, a daughter of Glen E. and Lois M. Starr Davis and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Gallagher, a 1979 graduate of Brookfield High School, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Youngstown State University in 1995. She was a Registered Nurse for Northside Hospital for 12 years and previously had worked for the Cleveland Clinic.

Lois was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, the Ohio Nurses Association and the Youngstown General Duty Nurses Association.

She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, crocheting and especially loved crocheting blankets for babies.

She leaves her mother, Lois Davis of Brookfield; a son, David Gallagher of Vienna; a daughter, Bridget Gallagher of Niles; two brothers, Glen Davis, Jr. and Gregory (Tammy) Davis both of Brookfield; three grandchildren, Rae Lynn, River and Axel and two special nephews, Donald and Christian.

Lois was preceded in death by her father.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, March 1 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.

WARREN, Ohio – Lillie B. Taylor passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Warren.

Lillie was born July 9, 1938 in Montgomery, Alabama, a daughter of the late Samson and Bennie Mae Jackson Murray.

A devoted mother to her family, Lillie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and loved reading her Bible.

She enjoyed working in her yard but most of all she enjoyed family gatherings.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Elizabeth (Ariggle) Moore of Warren, Shirley Sims of Warren, Lillie Taylor of Warren and Annie (Jay) Davenport of Georgia; sons, Alexander Taylor of Warren and Marcell Taylor of Warren; sisters, Mary Ella Taylor of Warren, Katie Everhart of Atlanta, Georgia, Evelyn Murray of Warren and Johnnie Mae Murray of Warren; brothers, Sam Murray of Warren, Shed Murray of Warren, Samson (Janice) Murray of Warren, Larry Murray of Cleveland, John Murray of Alabama and James Murray of Japan; a daughter-in-law, Betty Taylor of Warren; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; relatives and friends.

Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Worrie Lee Taylor, whom passed away November 1, 2015; a son, Johnny Taylor and brothers, William and Joe Murray.

Per Lillie’s request there are no services and cremation has taken place.

The family will receive friends at 1514 Highland Ave. SW on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.

NEW CASTLE, Pennsylvania – Esther “Tina” Macri, 89, of Waldo Street, New Castle, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle.

She was born August 15, 1927 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Peter and Ann (Campana) Ponzi.

She was married to the late Joseph A. Macri, Jr. who died October 3, 2015.

Mrs. Macri was an X-Ray Technician at St. Francis and Jameson Hospitals retiring after 48 years.

She was a former member of the Pennsylvania Society of X-Ray Technicians and the American Registry.

Mrs. Macri was a member of St. Vitus Church, St. Vitus Church Choir, Christian Mothers’ and the Church Festival Committee.

She is survived by four sons, Joseph A. Macri, III and his wife, Jamie of New Castle, David E. Macri of New Castle, Michael Macri and his wife, Marcia of Mars, Pennsylvania and Raymond Macri and his wife, Stacy of New Castle; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Louis Macri; two brothers, Peter and Sam Ponzi; two sisters, Mary Marino and Loretta McCollums and her grandson, Peter A. Macri.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral HomE, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vitus Church. Father Bill Siple of St. Vitus Church will be officiating.

A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery.

Robin Rene Jobe Neff Obituary

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – On Sunday night, February 26, 2017, Robin Rene Jobe Neff peacefully slipped into Heaven following a long illness. Robin died at Heritage Valley Beaver just two days shy of her 60th birthday.

A daughter of Billy Eugene Jobe of Calcutta and the late Shirley Jobe Hammett, Robin was born in East Liverpool on February 28, 1957.

She was a 1975 graduate of Wellsville High School and remained in this area the rest of her life.

For years she had been associated with Mansion Health Care Center in Wellsville and later with Calcutta Health Care Center, primarily in administration. A natural-born caregiver, she was constantly concerned about the needs of others.

Her family was her world and she especially loved following their everyday activities as a dedicated and devoted mom and grandma.

In addition to her father, with whom she resided, Robin leaves behind her three children, Lacey Scarabino of East Liverpool, Joey Scarabino (Katie) of Erie, Pennsylvania and Michael Scarabino (Brooke) of East Liverpool. Robin cherished her six grandchildren, Kiarra, Lexis, Camille, Joey, Lilly, Drayk and countless family friends who affectionately referred to her as “Nunny”. Also surviving are three sisters, Lisa Buck (Craig) of Milwaukee, Billie Stoica (Michael) of Chester and Tracey Singh (Dr. Paramjit “Pammy”) of Cleveland; as well as a brother, Tim Jobe (Tara) of East Liverpool and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 3. Pastor Kim Gadd of the House of Prayer will conduct a service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of remembrance and fellowship.

WARREN, Ohio – Charlene K. Waterman, 77, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born on June 21, 1939 in Warren, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank and Erma (Nolan) Fiest.

Charlene retired from Packard Electric where she was employed for 35 years.

She was a member of Warren Nazarene Church and led her life loving Jesus.

Charlene married her late husband, Bert B. Waterman on November 20, 1965. They were married for 35 years before his passing on July 7, 2000.

She enjoyed being outside and doing yard work. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Charlene is survived by her daughters, Monda Waterman, Karen Mathews and Erika Hall; grandchildren, Corey Beard, Marisa Mathews, Jacob Moore, Steven Mathews II and Blake Mathews; brother, Wilfred Fiest and a sister, Diane Sarnosky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert B. Waterman; parents; sister, Harriet Maccarone and brother, Kenneth Fiest.

NEW CASTLE, Pennsylvania – Jacqueline J. “Jackie” Bartholic Suchonic, 66, of Bon Aire Avenue, New Castle, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born May 31, 1950 in Tarentum, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Jack and Mary Jean (Wagner) Bartholic.

She was married to John A. Suchonic on July 4, 1998, he survives in New Castle.

Mrs. Suchonic worked for PARK for many years and babysat most of her life.

She loved children and animals. She was a member of White Shrine, Eastern Star and the Rainbows and was a past Matron of Eastern Star.

She was also preceded in death by an infant brother.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Gary R. Crowe will be officiating.

CAMPBELL, Ohio – Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Joseph Rudjak, for Phillip F. Zugcic, 99, who passed away Sunday afternoon, February 26.

Phillip was born September 26, 1917, in Campbell, the son of Godfrey and Katherine Palajsa Zugcic.

Phillip served in the U.S. Army Aircorp during World War II.

He worked as a draftsman and machinist for various companies throughout the area.

Phillip was a parishioner of the Holy Apostles Parish at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 274 and the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge No. 185.

Phillip cherished the time he spent with his brothers, playing in a tamburitza band at weddings, clubs and other social gatherings around town during the 1940s and 1950s. Phillip loved all of his neighbors and friends and enjoyed keeping up on all current events.

He will always be remembered by his nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Peter and Joseph Zugcic and his sister, Pauline Rish.

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Jack Earl Craig 73 of Goshen Township, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his home.

He was born on October 21,1943 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Mark O and Katherine (Frantz) Craig.

He graduated from Western Reserve School District in 1961.

Jack worked at Elgers in maintenance for 37 years; as well as working on his farm.

He enjoyed fishing. Jack loved his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jack B Craig and his brother, Gary Craig.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jill M Craig; his daughter, Jeffri K (Melvin) Marshall; his grandchildren, Alicia M (Jonathan Shellenberger) Craig of Salem, Brandan L Craig of Salem and Shae M Marshall of Alliance; his great-granddaughter, Ava L Shellenberger and his sisters, Glenna Seeley of Kensingson and Karen S Medlin, of Ft Myers, Florida.

Frances M. (Fiorino) Barna Obituary

WARREN, Ohio – Frances M. Barna 91, of Warren, Ohio died Sunday evening, February 26, at the Hospice House in Poland after several months in Hospice care.

Frances was born the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Termine) Fiorino on February 7, 1926 in Warren, Ohio and had been a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1943 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and been a quality inspector for General Electric Trumbull Lamp. She retired after 45 years.

She had most recently attended St. Joseph Catholic Church after being a member of Christ Our King Parish for many years prior to its closing.

She enjoyed bowling and golf.

Her husband, Gerald Barna, whom she married November 24, 1951, died November 21, 1994.

Her memories will be remembered and celebrated by those she leaves behind; two sons, John (Brenda) Barna of Braceville Township and Jerry Barna of Lordstown; a daughter, Laurie (Jim) Ambrose of Lordstown; a sister, Margaret Stankus of Lordstown; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary, Anne and Gen and also her brother, Joseph.

Memorial services will take place at a later date.

Louann Ruth Miller Obituary

WAYLAND, Ohio – Louann Ruth Miller of Wayland, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, February 26, 2017 of natural causes.

On January 9, 1937, in Ravenna, Everett Chauncey and Elinor Mae (Lister) Thorpe were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Louann.

Louann married the love of her life, George Robert Miller, Sr. on December 24, 1985 and they enjoyed 15 years of marriage together before he passed away on March 11, 2000.

Louann had lived in the Wayland area all her life.

She was a member of the National Honor Society, P. Omega Pi and Phi Gamma Na while she attended Kent State University where she earned a BS in education.

She has been a high school and adult night school business teacher for Bohecker’s Business College for the past 40 years. Louann was also employed with Robinson Health and Wellness Center as an aqua arthritis instructor and pool guard for several years.

She was a member of the Wayland Community Church, a charter member of the Wayland Bridge Club, the Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and the VFW Auxiliary #3332 in Newton Falls, where she was past president and woman of the year.

Louann enjoyed reading, traveling, genealogy and swimming.

Memories of Louann will be carried on by her loving family; her son, Scott A. and Theresa Rossow of Wayland; her sisters, Linda and David Colley of Naples, Florida and Norma Thorpe of Canton and her stepdaughter, Marcella Pontias of Austintown.

Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Louann will be laid to rest next to her husband in Hawley Cemetery.

James W. Abicht Obituary

WARREN, Ohio – James W. Abicht passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

James was born September 12, 1950 in Akron, Ohio, to the late Frederick and Margie Abicht.

He graduated from Kenmore High School in 1968, placing in the top fifth of the class and went on to the University of Akron, where he was n the R.O.T.C. from 1968-1969 en route to earning a degree in Spanish.

He taught Spanish at Windam Exempted Village Schools form 1972-1974.

He is survived by sister, Coral (Eric) Fields, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Carole Abicht, South Carolina and Helen Abicht, of Akron, Ohio; in addition to several nieces and nephews and well loved pets, Margie and Freddie.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Abicht and Donald Abicht.

James W. Abicht’s career in public service began in 1976 as a community specialist for the then Warren-Trumbull Community Service Agency. Abicht was recognized by State evaluators for his development of a plan of operations for the Energy Crisis Assistance Program, rated as one of the best operated in the State of Ohio. From 1982-1985, Abicht served as the Deputy Director for the agency. Abicht took over as President/CEO in January 1985 with a staff of 42. Today, TCAP employs nearly 150 individuals and is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors. Throughout his time as President/CEO, Albicht continued to play a prominent role in Trumbull County, serving on 21 Civic Associations. One of his signature moments came in 1991 when he helped the agency regain direct operation of the Trumbull County Head Start Program. Another milestone came in 1988, when Abicht played a vital role in launching the Community Action Transportation Program (C.A.T.S.). Under the direction of Abicht, TCAP purchased, refurbished and relocated to 1230 Palmyra Road S.W. (Warren West Community Center) in 1993 and still resides there today. In 1999, the agency’s name changed from Warren-Trumbull County Service Agency (WTCSA) to Trumbull Community Action Program (TCAP). During his tenure as President of TCAP, Abicht has helped the agency gain and maintain a source of pride and respect in the community, achieving extraordinary record of service to the residents of Trumbull County. TCAP staff is grateful to Abicht for having left the agency in admirable standing as he exits, making certain that the agency maintains its tireless dedication to service and will continue in the tradition of excellence that has long been its symbol because of the determinate efforts of Abicht throughout his 40 years of service.

A service of remembrance will be held at the funeral home Friday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

She was born in Portersville, Pennsylvania on March 25, 1935 daughter of Roy and Melvien (Whiteman) Miller.

On January 4, 1952, Earla married Moses Miller, he passed away November 9, 1997.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.

She is survived by two sons, William Miller and his wife, Georgia of Sheakleyville and Steve Miller and his wife, Belinda of Greenville; three grandchildren, Scott Miller and his wife, Carla, Roy Miller and his wife, Wanda and Savannah Miller and three great-grandchildren, Ikea Bortz, Gabriel Cole and Deserae Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Rose Young; a sister and four brothers.

Margaret “Maggie” Colundjia Obituary

MERCER, Pennsylvania – Margaret “Maggie” Colundjia, formerly of Wheatland, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the age of 95, at Countryside, Mercer.

Margaret was born May 23, 1921, in Masury to George and Mary (Sikora) Opalensky.

She married Sam Colundjia on November 17, 1951 and moved to Wheatland, where she enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a loving and generous person with a colorful personality. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sam, Maggie was preceded in death by her first husband, John Kushner; four sisters, Frances Kresosky, Helen Kajma, Violet Schiaville and Julia Sirko and two brothers, Frank and Peter Opalensky.

Survivors include four children, Kathy McCann and her husband, Terry, Sam Colundjia and his wife, Estha, Milo Kushner and John Kushner and his wife, Sharon; one sister, Stella Zavada and a brother-in-law, George Sirko.

She was blessed with nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Calling hours will be 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1 in John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2630 E. State St., Hermitage.

Funeral Service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. C. Charles Eckles officiating.

SALEM, Ohio – Glen William “Bill” Weber 77 of Salem, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017.

He was born on December 10, 1939 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late William A and Juanita D. (Wilms) Weber, Jr.

His zest for life, sense of humor and wit, love of his family and friends will fondly be remembered and cherished. In his younger years “Wild Bill” enjoyed motorcycles and drag racing. He fostered a passion for restoring antique tractors with his sons and was known for his tractor displays at the Canfield Fair.

Glen is survived by his wife of 15 years, Anna Theiss-Weber; three children, Donald W. (Marla) Weber of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Gary T. (Deb) Weber of Salem, Ohio and Matthew C. (Tracy) Weber of Union, South Carolina; his stepdaughter, Lori Gibson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Alexandria, Jacob, Brianna, Kennedy, Gabriel, Evan, Shenodoah and Zander; a stepgranddaughter, Kiley and two brothers, Charles A. Brode and Gerald Brode of Ravenna, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant brother, Norman, as well as many other extended family and friends.

There will be no services or calling hours held.

GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania – Shirley L. Galus, age 87, formerly of Werner Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 in The Grove at Greenville.

Mrs. Galus was born in Kinsman, Ohio on November 24, 1929, a daughter of Ralph and Laura (Gilder) Amon.

She was a 1947 graduate of Pymatuning High School.

Shirley was employed as a nurse at St. Paul’s for many years and previously worked as a nurse in the Youngstown Ohio area.

Shirley truly enjoyed knitting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandson and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a grandson, Christian Hoeck of Greenville; two great-grandchildren, Christian Hoeck, Jr. and Jocelynn Hoeck.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Richard Hoeck and Frank Galus; two sons, Mark Hoeck and Eric Hoeck and two daughters, Sandra Rogers and Shirley Martin; three brothers, Milton Amon, Clifford Amon and Joe Amon.

Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 in Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown, Pennsylvania.

Burial will be in Rocky Glen Cemetery.

Mae Taylor Obituary

NORTH LIMA, Ohio – Mae Taylor, 67, died suddenly Monday afternoon, February 27, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, surrounded by her family.

Mae was born December 18, 1949 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Concetta Rini Taylor.

Raised in New Springfield, she was a 1968 graduate of Springfield Local High School.

On November 8, 1970, Mae married Delmar “Gene” Taylor and became a dedicated homemaker. Together, they made their home in North Lima and raised their three children. Mae centered her life around her family and cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

A wonderful cook and baker, Mae loved sharing her dishes with family and friends. She welcomed everyone into her home and assured no one ever left hungry.

Mae was an active member of the New Springfield VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 2799.

Mae is survived by her husband, Delmar “Gene”; three children, Delmar “Gene” (Jennifer) Taylor, Jr. of Ottawa, Canada, Barbara Ware of Boardman and John (Alisha) Taylor of Newton Falls; her sister, Claudia Weber of New Springfield and seven grandchildren, Karissa, Brianna, Kayla, Ashlyn, Bruce, Jr., Brandon and Lane.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Greenford Lutheran Church, 7450 W. South Range Rd., Salem.

A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church.

Janet I. (Shaw) Gamble Obituary

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – On February 27, 2017, the good Lord called Janet I. (Shaw) Gamble home. She was 74.

A daughter of the late John and Opal Anthony Shaw, she was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother of five children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A lifetime East Liverpool resident, she worked in the color room at Hall China for over 15 years. She was a member of the Destiny House.

Her loving family is left to cherish her memory: Bonnie Gamble Howard and her son, Matthew (Anna) Fisher and their two daughters, Kasara Rose and Annabella Marie; James H. Gamble, Jr. (Margarite) and his son, Dennis; Crystal Gamble (Kevin Walker) and her children, Troy Gamble and his daughter, Makayla; Crystal Randall (Marty) and her children, Stella and Abraham and son, David Talbert II; John Gamble (Molly) and his son, Justin Gamble; David Gamble (Mary Seskey) and his daughters, Desira, Brittney and Caitlyn. She also is survived by a brother, Donald Shaw and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Shaw. She will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice “Betty” Jenkins; two brothers, Lloyd Shaw and Keith Shaw; one grandchild, Dennis Gamble and her former husband, James Harvey Gamble, Sr.

Friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening, March 3 at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Rev. Darrick Kelley will conduct a funeral service Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
