Edward “Bug” Brajkovich Obituary

HUBBARD, Ohio- There will be funeral services held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hubbard, with Pastor Dirk van der Duim officiating, for Edward “Bug” Brajkovich, age 52, of Hubbard, who passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 29, 2017 at home.

Edward was born April 26, 1965 in Youngstown, a son of Edward M Brajkovich and Rose Ann Bogden.

Ed attended Grace Lutheran Church in Hubbard.

He grew up in Campbell and graduated from Campbell High School in 1983.

After graduation, he was employed by Morgan Foods working at every Kentucky Fried Chicken in the area. He also worked for National Record Mart/Oasis Music, then later at FYE, building friendships while doing what he loved. He was currently working for Big Lots at their Hermitage store.

Ed had a passion for all things music. He loved spending time with friends and family, bowling, going to Phantoms and Scrappers games and was a big Star Wars fan but most of all he adored spending time attending his son’s sports activities.

He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife, the former Lisa K. McCracken, whom he married May 7, 1994; his son, Garrett, who was his world; his father, Ed Brajkovich of Campbell; his mother, Rose “Cookie” Brajkovich of Garfield Heights; his brother, Danny (Mandy) Brajkovich of Brandon, England; his sister, Barb (Kevin) Kish of Garfield Heights; his father-in-law, Taylor McCracken of Hubbard; his sister-in-law, Michele Murphy (Bill Kirby) of Pittsburgh; brother-in-law, Rick (Cathy) McCracken of Girard as well as many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and multitude of friends he called family.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Eva Jean McCracken and brother-in-law, Ron Murphy.

There will be calling hours on Thursday, October 5 prior to the service from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Hubbard.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Carol A. (Keck) Neidlinger Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Carol A. Neidlinger, 75, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully at Hospice House on Friday morning, September 29, 2017.

She was born November 26, 1941, daughter of Joseph and Mary Ellen (Manchester) Keck and was a lifelong area resident.

Carol graduated from Columbiana High School and then earned her Bachelor’s degree in english from Heidelberg University.

Carol was an avid reader and was always ready to recommend a good book. She loved knitting gorgeous sweaters, socks and scarves for her loved ones. Most of all, she enjoyed quilting. She poured her love into thousands of perfectly spaced tiny stitches over the years. Her magnificent hand-stitched quilts will be cherished by her family and friends.

She leaves behind her husband, Paul Neidlinger, whom she married November 18, 1966; two sons, David Neidlinger of London, Ohio and Rob (Lori) Neidlinger of Peachtree City, Georgia; a daughter, Beth Ricci of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren (Kevin), Angela, Marissa, Noah and Jarod; her brother, Eric (Margie) Keck of Albuquerque and her furry companion, Max.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Per Carol’s request there will be no calling hours or services and a caring cremation has taken place.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

Memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – At home on Saturday, September 30, 2017, Fred Arden Druschel, Jr., 90, of Austintown, Ohio, passed away in the presence of his family.

He was born on October 21, 1926 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to Fred A., Sr. and Irene May (Woods) Druschel.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Carol (Davis) Druschel; two children; grandchildren and other family members.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4 at St. Dominic Church, celebrated by Rev. Vincent DeLucia, O.P., for Mary Angela Miller Fischer, whom passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

The daughter of Henry Elmo and Edith Edmiston Miller, Mary Angela was born on May 28, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio.

Mary Angela attended St. Dominic’s School and was a member of the school orchestra and choir. She graduated from Ursuline High School in 1941 and was a member of the band.

Mary Angela received a Bachelor of Science degree in education with a major in music education from the Dana School of Music, Youngstown College in 1945.

She was a charter member of “Alpha Nu” Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, a national honorary music fraternity for women.

She taught music and junior high english in the Trumbull County Schools.

Mary Angela was a 91-year member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Infant of Prague Guild.

She was married to her beloved husband, James H. Fischer, for 63 years until his death on September 3, 2011. They were married in St. Dominic’s on May 22, 1948.

She leaves her beloved son, J. Bernard; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Fischer of Boardman; her loving granddaughter, Erica Marie (Michael) Sawchyn of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; her brother, Henry Elmo Miller of Youngstown and six nephews.

Friends may call from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday, October 4.

Maxine L. Disko Obituary

NILES, Ohio – Maxine L. Disko, 86, passed away peacefully at 6:35 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Gilette Nursing Home, Warren, following complications of a stroke.

Maxine was born in Martinise, California on October 2, 1930, the daughter of Lorn H. and Mellsinda (Kelly) Green and came to this area as a child.

Maxine was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.

She was a homemaker and caregiver for her family.

She was an active member and past president of the Trumbull Country Garden Club and was a certified master gardener from Ohio State University.

Maxine was a very active and feisty spirited woman and enjoyed teaching ceramics and flower arranging. She enjoyed participating in local politics.

Maxine is survived by a son, Steve (Cindy) Disko of Niles; daughter, Tina Disko at home; daughter-in-law, Kara (Disko) Natoli of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Shirley (Jim) Hale of Austintown; brother, Dick (Linda) Green of Austintown; four grandchildren, Jason (Amanda Stewart) Disko, Mark Disko, Rachel Leedy and Mike Disko; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, J. J. and Kaylin as well as several nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Disko, whom she married April 16, 1955 and he died May 17, 2001; a son, Brian L. Disko, whom died August 3, 2003; sister, Nancy Stoner and brother, Bud Green.

Funeral services will be held at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, October 4 with the Rev. James Korda of Saint Stephen Church officiating.

Family and friends may call at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, October 4 from 11:00 a.m. to the time of the services at 12:00 Noon.

Burial will follow at Niles City Cemetery.

Pauline Delores Tomko Obituary

WARREN, Ohio – Pauline Delores Tomko, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Heritage Manor nursing home in Youngstown, Ohio.

Pauline was born November 19, 1919 in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of the late Louis and Raffaela DeMarco.

Pauline married the late Stephen J. Tomko on September 25, 1948. They had one son, Steven Michael Tomko, in 1957.

Pauline worked as an inspector at Packard Electric in Warren before joining the Women’s Army Corp in 1943.

She earned her high school diploma while serving in the army and served in Florida, North Carolina and New England.

Upon her discharge in 1945, she returned to Packard Electric until 1957.

She obtained a cosmetology license working as a beautician’s assistant in the 1970s.

She volunteered for over 20 years at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital first as a hairdresser, then in the thrift shop and as a patient escort until 2011. She earned many awards for her volunteer service hours.

Pauline loved entertaining and prepared many meals for family and friends throughout the years. She enjoyed dancing at the Idora Park Ballroom and attending concerts. Babysitting her grandchildren was always a joy and she watched them until kindergarten. She adored animals, having many dogs throughout her life.

She was a long-time member of St. John Paul II parish (formerly St Joseph’s) in Warren, Ohio. She was also a reader for 25 years and counted the donations after Sunday mass.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marcia Tomko; grandchildren, Stephanie (Carl) Zambelli and Jonathan (Rachel Alley) Tomko and great-grandson, Rocco Zambelli.

Besides her parents, son and husband, she is preceded in death by her seven siblings, Frank DeMarco, Florence Adams, Sarah Marchio, Mary Bagaglia, Rose Knapp, John DeMarco and Patsy DeMarco as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 5 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish (St. Joseph Church) 420 North St. NW, Warren, Ohio 44483.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Christopher Henyk officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Harbor Light Hospice or the Trumbull County Animal Protective League.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7 at Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, for Beverly Rae Mashiska, 86, whom passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her home, with her loved ones by her bedside.

She was born March 7, 1931 in Youngstown, the daughter of Charles and Olive (Mansfield) Burk.

Beverly was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of East High School class of 1949.

She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Beverly enjoyed playing cards and belonged to the Kleber Avenue Card Club and the East High Graduates Card Club.

She was a great cook. Her favorite thing was making pasta dinners for her family and also enjoyed shopping and gaming.

Beverly leaves her beloved husband of 66 years, John A. Mashiska, Jr., whom she married June 9, 1951; three children, Lynn (Sam) Yovanovich of Boardman, John Mashiska III of Austintown and Phyllis (Mike) Miller of Austintown; six grandchildren, Michael (Megan), Scott (Natalie), Jake, Eric, Dominic and Vince (Elizabeth); two great-grandchildren, Vinny and Bella; one sister, Phyllis (Carmen) Lorubbio; one brother, Larry (Cheryl) Burk, both of Athens, Ohio as well as her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Pat Mashiska and Rick and Sandy Mashiska.

Besides her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Richard Burk and two sisters, Berna Metcalf and Faye Carney.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7 at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where services will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Perry L. Jackson Obituary

LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio – Perry Lee Jackson, 79, of Leavittsburg, passed away on Sunday morning, October 1, 2017 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born September 16, 1938 in Sutton, West Virginia, the son of Harry L. and Gladys (Long) Jackson.

Perry was employed as a steel worker for the former Copperweld Steel Corporation in Warren for 32 years, prior to retiring.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served from 1959-1962.

He enjoyed bowling and camping. He was also an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.

Perry is survived by six children, Larry (Mia Dieck) Jackson, Carol Brister and Brenda (Willard) Palmer, all of Warren, Terrie L. (Gary) Stephens of Champion, Linda (Charles) Pifer of Austintown and Cindy (Chris) Gensburg of Lordstown. He also leaves behind a sister, Mae Simmons, of Painesville; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Perry was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Jackson and three sisters, Hazel, Annabelle Marvin and Mildred Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6 at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren, with Rev. Karl Rein officiating.

Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at the funeral home.

Perry will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to Harbor Light Hospice, in his memory.



Steve Lysohir Obituary

HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania – Steve Lysohir, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully following a brief illness at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in his residence. He was 92.

Mr. Lysohir was born on March 8, 1925 in New Castle, a son of John and Anna (Witoshensky) Lysohir.

He moved to the area as a child and was a graduate of Sharon High School.

A proud veteran, Steve served in the Army during WW II in Saipan.

He retired as maintenance superintendent of the Hermitage School District and previously worked in the same capacity for the Sharon School District.

Steve was an active member of St. John’s Orthodox Church, Hermitage, where he served on the church board, assisted with pierogi sales and various other church functions and played St. Nicholas at the children’s Christmas parties. Steve was also a Free and Accepted Mason and a member of the Shriners. Many friends and families will remember him as Santa Claus, making his Christmas Eve visits and distributing toys, food and clothing to many children throughout the area.

Active in the community, he was a former Hermitage Commissioner and a member of the Sharon Lions Club and the VFW and Goodfellows, both in Hermitage.

Steve enjoyed gardening, golf, cooking and watching sports.

His wife of 60 years, the former Sue Chuba, whom he married July 30, 1949, passed away July 23, 2010.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Lysohir, Monroeville; two sons, Richard Lysohir, Salmon, Idaho and Thomas Lysohir, Hollidaysburg; a grandson, Steven Lysohir and his wife, Patricia, Austin, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Anya and Nia Lysohir; two sisters, Helen Fairman, Raleigh, North Carolina and Dorothy Elberty and her husband, Thomas, Califon, New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Helen Kachaylo of Brookfield; two brothers-in-law, Andrew Chuba, Hermitage and Stephen Chuba and his wife, Joan, Sharpsville; a loving niece, Mary Ann Lavin of Hermitage; a special friend, Anna Mae Theiss of Hermitage; several nieces and nephews and his many friends at Whispering Oaks.

Besides his wife, Steve was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joseph, Michael, Alexander, John and Nicholas Lysohir and a sister, Tessa Lysohir.

A special thank you to Sharon Regional Hospice, the staff at Sharon Regional Health skilled nursing care, the staff at Whispering Oaks and especially his compassionate care givers, Nancy, Quaryah “Q”, Angela and Erika.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3 in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Panachida service will be at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3 in the funeral home.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4 in St. John’s Orthodox Church, 3180 Morefield Rd., Hermitage, with Rev. David Mastroberte, pastor, officiating. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.

Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors rendered by the Hickory VFW Honor Guard.


Raffaele Branca Obituary

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pennsylvania – Raffaele Branca, of West Middlesex, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 9:50 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in his residence which he shared with his companion, Jinine Fulton. He was 68.

Mr. Branca was born March 27, 1949 in Bagnoli Irpino, Avellino, Italy, a son of Domenico and Vincenza (DiCapua) Branca.

Raffaele graduated high school in Italy and served two years in the Italian Army before immigrating to the United States to join his family.

He worked at several local steel mills before ultimately retiring in 2014 from NLMK, Farrell. Previously, Raffaele worked for many years as an auto body technician and mechanic at Ken’s Auto Body, Sharpsville.

He was of the Catholic Faith.

Raffaele enjoyed being outdoors, particularly while working in his garden. He also enjoyed making wine and taking trips to the casino. Above all, Raffaele loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Maria F. (Amin) Afrazi, Madison, Wisconsin; a son, Domenico M. (Charlyn) Branca of Hermitage; three grandchildren, Domenico R. and Stephania C. Branca and Carina S. Afrazi; his companion, Jinine S. Fulton, West Middlesex; a sister, Anna (Decio) Patrone, Florence, Italy and two brothers, Aneillo Branca, Sharon and Luigi Branca, Farrell.

Raffaele was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be held at 12:00 Noon until the time of service on Wednesday, October 4 in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4 in the funeral home, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, officiating.

Interment will be held at St. Anthony Cemetery, Hermitage.


Harold A. Lemke Obituary

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio – Harold A. ” Butch” Lemke, age 89, of North Jackson, formerly of Austintown, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Antonine Village in North Jackson, with his family by his side.

Harold was born on June 10, 1928 in Youngstown, he was the son of Arthur and Minnie (Scherer) Lemke.

Butch entered into the U.S. Navy when he was 17 years old where he proudly served our country from 1945 until he was honorably discharged in 1949.

Upon his discharge, he attended Butcher School.

He went to work for Swift and Co. as a butcher and later became a brick-layer as well as a truck-driver for several years. He also went to work for Lay Rite Block Company where he learned to operate machinery and then worked for Akron Brick and Block where he retired in 1986.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union.

He was also an actor and producer for the Fitch Minstrel Productions for 35 years.

He attended both Immanuel Lutheran Church and then Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Denise (Nick) Harris and Debra (Dennis) Voytko; grandchildren, Danielle (Marty) Jourdan, Dana Voytko and Jason and Adam Harris; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Julia Jourdan as well as his brother and sister, Donald Lemke and Lorena Bartos.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Lemke and a sister, Carol Yungen.

Funeral services will be held at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, on Friday, October 6 at 5:00 p.m.

Friends will be received beginning at 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, October 6.

Memorials may be made to a veteran’s organization of one’s choice.

Cade Arden Neiser Obituary

SALEM, Ohio – Cade Arden Neiser, age 23, of Salem, died on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his home.

He was born September 10, 1994 in Youngstown, the son of Mike and Cindy (Bowman) Neiser.

Cade was currently employed at Austintown Rail Supply and previously at G’s Pizza World in Berlin Center.

He attended West Branch Schools.

Cade loved to make people laugh, loved bonfires and being with friends. He was the life of every party and family gathering. He had a heart bigger than anyone else when someone needed help.

He was survived by his parents, Mike and Cindy Neiser of Salem; a sister, Angela (Tim) Schafer of Ellsworth; two brothers, Shane (Betsy) Hardy of Salem and Cody (Amber) Neiser of Salem; grandparents, David and Judith Neiser, Columbiana and nephews, Griffin and Aarik Hardy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arden and Helen Bowman.

To celebrate his life, there will be a casual time of remembrance and fellowship on Thursday, October 5 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.

George Frank Dolby, Jr. Obituary

FARRELL, Pennsylvania – George Frank Dolby, Jr., of Farrell, passed away at 4:21 a.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Cleveland, Ohio. He was 71.

Mr. Dolby was born December 27, 1945 in Mercer, a son of George F., Sr. and Lois (Sauers) Dolby.

He was a 1964 graduate of Mercer High School and was in the first graduating class at Penn State, Shenango Campus, earning his associates degree in business management.

Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served with the Big Red One, 1st Infantry division.

While in high school, Frank began working at the former Steel Car, Greenville and continued there for 20 years. Later he was employed by the former Northstar Steel, Youngstown, Ohio, retiring in 2008 as a quality control inspector.

Frank was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

He was also a member and Junior Vice Commander of VFW post #5286, Farrell, VFW post #6345, Mercer and the American Legion post #432, Wheatland. Frank was active in the Farrell Little League and helped coach his son’s team to a city championship.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, bird watching and mushroom picking. Frank was a firm believer in the second amendment and supporting the military and veterans. He was a fan of Penn State Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Lee Barone, whom he married on September 18, 1965; two sons, Anthony Dolby and his wife, Christine, Pottstown, Pennsylvania and Christopher Dolby and his wife, Jessica, Concord, Ohio; a brother, Kenneth Dolby, Iowa and his mother-in-law, Mary Barone, Farrell.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be private.

Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Hermitage.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Prayers will be held Thursday, October 5 at 11:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, for Michael R. Roberts, Sr., 96, who passed away at his home on Sunday evening, October 1, 2017.

Michael was born August 25, 1921 in Youngstown, a son of the late Angelo and Rosa (Calucco) Roberts (Mastroberti).

Michael retired as a brick layer from U.S. Steel Ohio Works.

He was a member of the Wick Lodge 481, Knights of Columbus, Youngstown Chapter No. 93, Buechner Council No. 107 and the St. John Commandery No. 20.

Michael had a passion for his garden, fishing and wine making. At the age of 91, he planted 7,000 garlic bulbs. He also enjoyed horse racing and was a barber on the side.

His wife of 67 years, the former Pauline Terrago, whom he married October 12, 1940, passed away October 26, 2007.

Michael leaves his two daughters, Donna Roberts of Columbus and Janice Perry of Connecticut; two sons, Ralph (Rita) Roberts of Austintown and Nick (Jody) Roberts of Newton Falls; 11 grandchildren, Vince, Teresa, Dominic, Nick, Jr., Chris, Julie, Shelly, Judy and Michael Roberts III, Michael Raymond and Adam Perry and six great-grandchildren.

Michael was also preceded in death by a son, Michael R. Roberts, Jr.; a sister, Columbia Lauiente and four brothers, Joe, Tony, Lou and Angelo Roberts.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, October 4 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

CORTLAND, Ohio – Nancy Jean (Teachout) Kachur, 85, of Cortland, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.

She was born August 20, 1932, the youngest child of Leo A. and Margaret Gorman Teachout of Youngstown and was raised in Warren.

She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Warren.

Nancy worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Roland P. Hahn.

She married Michael D. Kachur on October 5, 1957. For 37 years they lived a loving and simple life and she continued to cherish him long after his death in 1994.

Nancy is survived by her children, Ann Shelton (David) of Bradenton, Florida, Margaret McCarther (Danny) of Washington D.C, Michael of San Antonio, Texas, Amy Horstman (Richard) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Paul (Lori) of Aurora, Ohio and Christopher (LeeAnn) of Mason, Ohio. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Neal, Sarah and Andrew Shelton, Jaqueline, Adam and Elise Kachur, Brian and Julia Kachur, Nathan and Maggie Horstman and Samuel and Joseph Kachur. She took immense pride in the happiness and success of all her children and grandchildren.

Her 11 siblings preceded her in death, Ellen (Anthonson), Marge (Landers), Leo, Isobel (Williams), George, Rita (Dell), Norbert, Robert, Alfred, Victor and Richard. Though she was the youngest, Nancy was very close with her siblings and they enjoyed a very fun and happy childhood together.

Nancy very much enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She loved to bake, shop and socialize with her dear friends.

She was a devout parishioner of St. Roberts Catholic Church, where she attended mass almost every day.

Nancy’s family will receive family and friends on Thursday, October 5 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. in Cortland.

Fr. Carl Kish will officiate a funeral Mass on Friday, October 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 4659 Niles Cortland Rd.

Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Robert Catholic Church Building Fund, 4659 Niles Cortland Road, Cortland, Ohio 44410.

Joseph Petrykowski Obituary

MASURY, Ohio – Joseph Petrykowski, of Masury, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, October 2, 2017 in the Sharon Regional Health Care System, following a period of declining health. He was 91.

Joe was born in Wembier, Pennsylvania on October 10, 1925, one of seven children of Zigmond and Caoline (Rog) Petrykowski.

He served our country in the United States Army with the 345th Engineer Service Regiment during World War II participating in the Rome-Arno and Appennine campaigns. Joe was discharged on June 25, 1946 and during his service he received the European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Meritorious Unit Award.

Joe went on to marry the former Stella Prorok on August 30, 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He worked many different positions for the former Westinghouse manufacturing plant in Sharon for 36 years before his retirement.

He was active in several organizations such as the Masury VFW Post #8860 where he had served as Post Commander several times and was a lifetime member. Joe also served as the Trumbull County V.F.W. council commander and was a member of the Polish National Alliance.

He was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Bernadette Church in Masury now known as St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Vienna.

Joe also loved watching all types of sports and attending many Brookfield High School games.

He leaves behind his sons, Leo Petry and his wife, Kate of New Haven, Connecticut and Joe Petrykowski of Masury, Ohio; his daughter, Vici Petrykowski of Masury, Ohio; three grandchildren, Madison Milarcik, Samuel Petry and Rachelle Petry and his brother, Stanely Petryk of North Olmstead, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 55 years, Stella, on January 22, 2008; an infant daughter, Eva; four brothers, Leo and John Petrykowski who died serving in World War II, Ed Petrowski and Steve Peterykowski as well as his sister, Helen Zebroski.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, October 5 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church 4453 Warren-Sharon Road Vienna, Ohio 44473., with Very Rev. Frank Zanni V.F., as Pastor.

Friends may call from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5 prior to the Mass at the church.

Burial will follow at Brookfield Township Cemetery where military honors will be observed as tribute to Joe’s service.

Loretta was born on May 11, 1948 in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of Roy A. and Nadine Guy Morlan.

She lived in the area most of her life and owned and operated The Video Store in the New Middletown Plaza.

She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of New Springfield VFW Triangle Post #2799.

Loretta married Kenneth E. Nelson, Jr. on September 17, 1976.

Besides her husband, she leaves one daughter, Terri L. Nelson of Petersburg; two stepsons, John (Carla) Nelson of Mahoning Township, Pennsylvania and Ernest Nelson Bessemer, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Robert and William Morlan, both of Hermitage, Pennsylvania and three grandchildren, Brandi, Brenna and Brandon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one stepson, Roy Nelson and two sisters, Cheri Repasky and Ida M. Butler.

As per her wishes there will be no calling hours or service.
