Joseph A. McTigue, Youngstown, Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – On Wednesday, February 12, 2020 our father, Joseph A. McTigue fondly known as “Poppie”, passed away at his home that he built, with his family at his side.

Born on October 10, 1925 in Youngstown, he was the son of John and Mary Billock McTigue.

Joseph was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII, with an honorable discharge.

Joseph attended school for Communications in Chicago.

Upon returning home from Chicago Joe married Carol E. Manning, his childhood friend and next door neighbor. They were married on August 4, 1951 at St. Edwards Church.

After finishing school, Joe was employed with Hood Electric and Ohio Bell (AT&T), he worked for Ohio Bell for 34 years.

Joe was a member of the knights of Columbus Poland Council 4471 since 1947.

Joseph leaves behind his nine children, Mary Jo (Richard) Averell, Carollynn McTigue, P. Breen McTigue, J. Todd (Barbara) McTigue, Kelli (Guy) Leach, Leslie (Dominic) Eckman, J. Kurt (Angela) McTigue, Jeannine Nunnemaker and M. Brendan (Susan) McTigue. He has 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Joe was a charter member of Holy Family Church and served as an usher for over 65 years.

Once Joe retired he kept busy with several odd jobs. Joe loved working in his yard and taking care of his family’s horses with the dogs following behind, joe was willing and always lending a helping hand.

Besides his parents Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Carol E. Manning McTigue; son-in-law, Jim Nunnemaker; four brothers, John, Leo, Ed and Ducky (Donald) and his sister, Marie Campbell.

A special thank you to Dr. Scott Tofil and Dr. Ron Aiello, nurses of Hospice of the Valley and staff, also First Light Home Health Aid and staff.

Family and friends may call from 9:15 – 10:45 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2020 at Holy Family Church, 2729 Center Road, Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Celebrated by Rev. Msgr. William J. O’Connell at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Interment will take place at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Memorial tributes may be made in Josephs name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland or Hospice of The Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market Street, Boardman.

GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Jean Campbell, 89, of 339 Jamestown Road, Greenville, formerly of Hadley Road, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, February 13, 2020 at The Ridgewood at St. Paul’s in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

Jean was born at home in Stony Creek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania on April 17, 1930 to the late Robert and Minnie Rae (Duppstadt) Walker.

In 1948 she graduated from Hadley High School.

Jean married her husband of 69 years, Gerald “Rip” Campbell, on July 29, 1950, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Greenville. He survives at The Ridgewood at St. Paul’s.

She was a member of Hadley Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Jean was a homemaker for 23 years before owning and operating Campbell’s Trail and Turf for 22 years along with her husband.

She was a member of the Greenville White Shrine 47, Jolly Hilltop Club and Pymatuning Trail Blazers. She was also active in the Cub Scout and Girl Scouts.

Jean really enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winter months, frequenting Chinese auctions and following the lives of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lori Peterson and her husband, Brian, of Greenville and Linnea Blake and her husband, Mike, of Butler, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Campbell of Clarks Mills, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Donald Campbell of Warren, Ohio; eight grandchildren including Ryan Campbell, Brina Wagler and her husband, Chance, Casee Blackmer and her husband, Paul, Cara Black and her husband, Ray, Christopher Peterson and his wife, Jessica, Kelsey Leonhardt and her husband, Andrew, Jennifer Tingley and her husband, Troy and Justin Blake and his wife, Nina; 14 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Campbell; her twin sister, Janet Ringer; three other sisters, Helen Reed, Temmy Thomas and Allene Young and a brother, Hillis Walker.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 16, 2020, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Monday, February 17, 2020, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at Osborne-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 73-75 Columbia Avenue, Greenville.


A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020, with Rev. Phil Chalfant, minister of Hadley Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial with committal prayers will follow at Hadley Cemetery.

Kristen Marie Reel, Warren, Ohio

WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Kristen Marie Reel, beloved daughter of Steven L. Reel and Marybeth Guffey, quietly passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 with her family by her side after a lifetime courageous battle with cancer and its effects.

Born on March 11, 1971, Kristen became a lifetime resident of Warren, Ohio.

She had a zest for life, making many dear friends along the way.

Kristen graduated from Warren G. Harding High School Class of 1989.

She became a hospital volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 16 years.

She enjoyed collecting stamps, listening to all genres of music and spending time with her family.

Kristen leaves behind her mother; her stepfather, William Guffey; her brother, Steven Charles Reel; her sister, Erica Reel; two nieces, Sophia and Evelyn; one nephew, Steven and many loving uncles, aunts and cousins.

Kristen was loved by all who knew her. She will always be remembered for spreading joy and happiness wherever she went and her smile and laughter that touched the many lives of those who had the privilege of meeting her. Kristen will be missed by many.

Calling hours for Kristen will be held a Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, February 20 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., with services to follow.

John K. “Jack” Milliken, Poland, Ohio

POLAND, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – John K. “Jack” Milliken, 79, passed away Tuesday morning, February 11, 2020, at Masternick Memorial.

He was born October 14, 1940, in Youngstown, a son of the late John and Anna Rea Milliken. 

He graduated from South High School and attended Youngstown State University. 

Jack was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Korea. 

In 2008, Jack retired from Roth Brothers in residential services after 14 years. 

He was a member of the Struthers VFW Post No. 3538 and Mahoning Valley Gaelic Society.

Jack also played softball for Mahoning Valley Slow Pitch for 24 years and was an avid golfer, where he played in leagues at Bedford Trails. Jack also worked at Bedford Trails from 2011 to 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Biroschak Milliken, whom he married April 27, 1968; his daughter, Kellie Milliken of Struthers; a son, Daniel Milliken of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Brittany Chamberlain, Brandon Chamberlain, Emily Shaw and Destanne Warren and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and MadiLyn Jones.

Family and friends may call 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road, Lowellville, Ohio 44436, where a 2:00 p.m. service will follow at the church.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 17 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Avenue, Boardman for Rose M. Rook, 93 of Westlake, formerly of Boardman who died Wednesday evening, February 12 at Rae-Ann Suburban Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Westlake.

Rose was born October 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Slavo and Anna Marie (Karas) Mikus.

She graduated from Chaney High School in 1944 and had lived in this area most of her life before moving to Westlake.

She had been a shoe clerk for the former Lustig’s Shoe Store for 25 years and then worked as a shoe clerk and bookkeeper for Buchman Shoes.

Rose was a member of Bethel Luthern Church.

She loved to bake and cook, especially cakes and cookies. She was a giving person, even when she didn’t have it.

She was always happy and known by her smile and will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Kelly (Robert) Banks of Youngstown and Carol Centric of N. Ridgeville and two grandchildren, Paul W. (April) Centric and Jennifer (David) Dieterle. Rose also leaves five great-grandchildren, Ava, Naomi, Madilynn, Dylan and Brendan.

Besides her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry W. Green, whom she married December 8, 1945 and died September 18, 1976 and her second husband, Franklin H. Rook, Sr., whom she married May 9, 1992, died April 28, 2003. Rose was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Paul M. Centric; two brothers, Steve Mikus and Lt. Col. Nick Mikus and two sisters, Barbara Naples and Anna Marie Wittenauer.

Friends may call on Sunday, February 16 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lorraine ‘Lorrie’ Schott, Boardman, Ohio

BOARDMAN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church for Lorraine ‘Lorrie’ Schott, 65, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2020 after a 12 year hard fought and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Beloved daughter, sister, aunt and godmother, Lorrie was born on December 21, 1954 in Youngstown to John and Katherine Kukla Taraszewski.

Lorrie was a 1972 graduate of Cardinal Mooney high school. 

She went on to become a licensed commercial insurance agent, retiring from L. Calvin Jones in 2017.

She was a volunteer for several rescue and adoption animal shelters.  Lorrie walked in Relay for Life events, was an avid reader, enjoyed soap making, concerts and family gatherings.

Lorrie is survived by her siblings Jim (Sue) Terry of Florida, Nancy (Jerry) Demetra of Boardman and Dolly (Kevin) Emborsky of Austintown; her nephews Jim Terry, Mark Terry, Nate Demetra, Jake Demetra and niece Jill Terry.

A special thank you to Dr. Amy Awaida, nurses Patty and Ann and staff Karen and Rosemary for all their compassion and help.

WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Florrie L. (Groce) Pearson, 85, of Warren, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Wednesday afternoon, February 12, 2020, at Signature Healthcare in Warren.

She was born Sep. 29, 1934, in Lincoln, Alabama, the daughter of Gary Truss (father), John Miller (stepfather) and Henrietta Groce Miller (mother).

Florrie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to all, friend to many and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, of Warren, Ohio.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Neal (Esther) Pearson of Groton, Massachusetts., Ronald (Janice) Pearson of Warren and Kevin (Latisha) Pearson of Dacula, Georgia; stepdaughter, Emma (Gerald) Simmons of Lawton, Oklahoma; brother, Charlie (Annie) Miller of Lincoln, Alabama; sister Rosie (Willie) Mitchell of Talladega, Alabama; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Florrie was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Pearson, her daughter Earnestine Pearson, two sisters, one brother, and two grandchildren.

A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Saturday February 22, 2020 at the Friendship Baptist Church, 1954 Brier St. SE, Warren, OH 44484.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Ronald Pearson, at 1936 Oakdale Drive NW, Warren.

Burial will take place in the Pineview Memorial Park, 4049 Youngstown Rd SE, Warren.

Arrangements were handled by the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 N Park Ave. Warren.

Andrew Presley McKean, Warren, Ohio

WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Andrew Presley McKean, 88, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, peacefully after an extended illness at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home.

Mr. McKean was born October 18, 1931, in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, the son of Fred and Sara Davis McKean.

Mr. McKean was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict.          

Andrew retired in 1987 from the State of Ohio as Manager of the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services after over 30 years of exemplary service. 

Upon retiring, Andrew remained active in his community and was Co-owner of several area restaurants and bars, most notably, The Pub in the Eastwood Mall.   

Andy was an avid fan and lifetime supporter of Warren G. Harding High School athletics.  Friday night football games were one of his passions and he was very proud of the fact that he had regularly attended home games since his days as a high school student. Andy served as an officer of the Harding Football Booster Club during the 1970’s. He enjoyed attending Ohio State and Michigan football games, often in the company of his lifetime friends.  His family was very important to Andy and he would often take extended trips to visit relatives away from Warren.  Andy was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed discussing current events with his many friends and colleagues.

He is survived by Mr. Ralph Crago (brother-in-law, St. Louis, Missouri), Mrs. Clo McKean (sister-in-law, Warren, OH), and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews.  Close friends Regis Guinaugh and Peggy Massary mourn his passing as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings; Sylvester McKean, Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania; Jennie Staup, Utica, Pennsylvania; Daisy Helen McKean, Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania;  Margaret McKean, Cleveland, Ohio;  Harvey McKean, Montgomery, Alabama; Paige Moore, Massillon, OH;  Edith Crago, St. Louis, Missouri;  Letha McCormick, North Tonawanda, New York and Charles McKean, Warren, Ohio. 

Family and friends may pay their respects Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Oh. 

A service will follow the calling hours at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor David R. Black officiating.

A private burial will be in Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, Pennsylvania.

Martha S. Sheridan, Howland, Ohio

HOWLAND, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Martha S. Sheridan, 60, of Howland, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 2, 2020.

She was born February 11, 1959 in Charleston, W. Va., the daughter of John and Rosila (Richmond) King.

Martha lived most of her life in Ohio, and had recently moved back after spending five years in Florida.

A homemaker, Martha enjoyed quilting, crafts, sewing and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Precious memories of Martha live on with her daughter, Jennifer Wright (James) of Howland; seven grandchildren: Bryan Cundall, Jr, Ashley Cundall, Syrus Wright, Tyler Wright, Za’Nyiah Wright, Ava Dedon, and Jace Dedon; five great-grandchildren; three stepsons: Brendan Sheridan, Bobby Sheridan and Trevor Sheridan; two sisters, Judy Schwarz (George) of Howland and Debbie Moffett of Florida; one brother, Dan King (Marylou) of Ohio; many nieces, nephews and their families and her special friend, Marjory Dedon of Lordstown.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her loving husband, Robert Sheridan, whom she married in 1994 and who passed in October, 2009; two sons, Cye Dedon and Bryan Dedon and one brother, Jerry King.

Private services were already held. Cremation has taken place.

Donald Scott Phillips, Austintown, Ohio

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Donald Scott Phillips, 52, died Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2020 of an apparent heart attack at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.  

Don was born Sept. 26, 1967, in Salem, the son of Joseph J. and Evelyn Priscilla (Cox) Phillips. 

He was a 1987 graduate of Struthers High School and attended Youngstown State University. 

Don’s Catholic faith was very important to him and spent years as a child as an altar server. 

Don began his career in automotives in 1987. He was a self-employed Certified Master Mechanic, who owned and operated Don’s Automotive for 35 years.

He was also a proud member of the Mineral Ridge Fire and Rescue Squad. Don gave generously to many community leagues and organizations throughout his life.  He recently received his 25 year silver plaque as a purchaser for the 4-H Clubs.  Don was proud to be a regular specialist on the Ron Verb Show.

Don excelled in many sports throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed playing darts, bocce, and received five 300 rings in bowling. Regardless of what Don did, he always gave 110% and encouraged his sons to be champions!

Don’s greatest passion was spending time with his children and most recently coaching his youngest son, Jameson’s baseball teams. He coached baseball and soccer for all 3 of his sons throughout the years. Don loved being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, horseback riding and camping.  He was also an avid boxing fan and racecar driver. 

He was a kind and generous man who helped many stranded motorists in the middle of the night.  One of his gifts was encouraging the youth to believe and achieve in themselves! Don was also an instrumental part of his wife’s businesses, Billy’s Bar and Julie’s Periscoop. 

Don always had a very generous heart and his last gift was the gift of life through organ donation, which will help the lives of many. 

Don is survived by his wife, Julie Brauer; three sons, Donald James Phillips of Austintown, Jake Mathew (Kayla) Phillips of Austintown and Jameson Phillip Brauer of Austintown; three sisters, Marilyn Phillips Sinkovich of Florida and Susan Phillips Agnone (Dennis Tims) of Struthers and Mary Joe (Nate) Nevel of Lowellville; two brothers, Rick Phillips of Youngstown and Jonathan (Danielle) Phillips of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Janice P. Burnham and two brothers, Ron and Steven Phillips. 

Family and friends may call Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes.

Prayers will begin Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church.

WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Marlon Dewon Smith, 27, of 2401 Palmyra Road, Warren, Ohio, departed this life suddenly Monday, February 10, 2020 at 1:54 p.m.

He was born February 17, 1992 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Brian Smith and Angela Smith.

Mr. Smith was employed with Vinyl Tech as a laborer.

He was a 2011 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and enjoyed rapping and fashion.

He leaves to mourn two daughters, Miss Johniece Jones of Warren and Miss Raina Davis of Cleveland; mother, Ms. Angela Smith of Warren; father, Brian Smith of Houston, Texas; two grandmothers, Ms. Emma Smith and Ms. Mary Smith both of Warren; Godmother, Ms. Lisa Williams of Warren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Chapel, where calling hours will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Burial will take place at Pine Knoll Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at 2353 Montgomery Ave., NW, 44485, the home of his mother, Angela Smith.

Linda C. Holliday, Greenville, PA

GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Linda C. Holliday, 69, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2020 in her home with her family at her side.  
  
Linda was born on November 22, 1950 to Leon P. and Lois (Ammons) Geiwitz in Sharon, Pennsylvania.

She attended Mercer High School.

Linda worked as the Dietary Manager for Orange Village Care Center, 29 years until she retired to help raise her extended family.

On September 4, 1971 she married her husband, the late Thomas “Doc” Holliday who passed away September 25, 2014. Linda was devoted to her family, spending time with them and caring for them was most important to her.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Richard Alan Fink, 60, of Austintown, Ohio, passed away at home at 12:52 p.m. on February 13, 2020, surrounded by his wife, kids and grandkids, following a courageous battle with liver cancer.

Rich was born October 6, 1959 in Salem, Ohio, to the late Lester S. and Marcia L. (Handwork) Fink.

He was a 1978 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.

He then met the love of his life Debby Crum and they were married June 19, 1982.

Rich began his working career with the Calex Corporation in Campbell, Ohio. After surviving an industrial electrocution, he took his second chance at life as an opportunity and became a self-taught offset printing press operator. He successfully established the Print Fast Printing Company in Boardman, Ohio; a thriving business he and his wife operated for 18 years.

Rich was ordained as a Deacon in the Southern Baptist Association on June 19, 2011. He was also a Professional Association of Diving Instructors, Open Water Diver with the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team.

In his spare time, Rich enjoyed woodworking, fishing and camping with family. He was a self-proclaimed “BBQ Aficionado”. When Rich was not doing any of those mentioned hobbies, he could be found browsing for bargains at his local Marc’s, where he was considered family by the staff.

Every Labor Day weekend, Rich could not be found at home, but rather at the Canfield Fair with his family, looking for the perfect bench by the cow barns to enjoy a $1 corn dog, covered in mustard. This tradition is guaranteed to be carried on by his family!

Nothing was more important to Rich than family, especially being a “papa” to his grandkids!

He leaves, his loving wife of 37 years, Debby; his kids, Charitee L. Fink of East Aurora, New York, Dan W. Fetherolf of Rootstown, Ohio and Richard S. Fink and his wife, Kimberly McGarvey, of Greenville, Pennsylvania; his five amazing grandkids, Kylee, Makenna, Derick, Braydon and Brady; his best buddy, his dog, Prince, as well as his extensive extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roger and Randy Fink.

Family and friends may call on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home, 672 Churchill Rd., Girard, OH 44420.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, Melissa L. Miskell-Tabbara, age 46, of Boardman, died following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. 

She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on July 9, 1973 to John and Kathleen (Mason) Miskell.

Besides her parents, Melissa is survived by her beloved son, Rowan Tabbara; brother, Joseph (Rachel) Miskell and her nephew and godson, Dylan Miskell; aunts and uncles, Thomas R. (Charlotte) Mason, Pamela (Donald) Lesher, Mary (Daniel) Kremser, Dorothy Mason, Kathryn A. (Lawrence) Schutte and Margery (Kenneth) Truta.

Melissa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Loretta (Winters) Mason, Marie (John) Miskell Campbell and Joseph Miskell; uncles, Richard J. Mason, Jr., Robert J. Miskell and aunt, Patricia O’Neill-Miskell.

Melissa began her professional career as the religious director at St. Luke Church. She continued her life of service as Unit Director at Community Corrections Associations, a Case Manager at Treatment Alternatives for Safer Communities and female drug court liaison at the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center. She also worked as an executive assistant for Attorney Rockland DiPerro-Turner. She was an advocate for autistic children, speaking numerous times at United Way luncheons.

The Miskell family would like to thank the entire staff at UPMC, Farrell, Pennsylvania and Hospice of the Valley for the care provided to Melissa.

Melissa wanted to thank all of her extended family and friends, including her numerous cousins, Sandra and Joseph Guarino, Rose Marie and Carmen Pecchio, Paul and Joyce Lettau, Rosemary and Dave Petrilla, Robert and JoAnn Clemens, Ginny and Dale McCaskill and the housewives of Oakley Avenue for all their care and support. A special thanks to her great aunt, Mary Winters, for her special delivery packages.

As per Melissa’s request, there will be Celebration of Life Service at a later date, which will be announced in the coming months.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Patricia Ann Frazier, 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Austinwoods Nursing Center.

Patricia was born on March 17, 1941 in Cleveland, the daughter of William J. and Margaret (Hohvart) Specht.

On October 21, 1961, Patricia was united in marriage to Gary Frazier who survives.

She was a lifelong resident of the area.

She graduated from East High School in 1959 and Choffin Career Center receiving a licensed practical nurse degree. She also earned a certificate in pharmacology.

Patricia retired from St. Elizabeth Medical Center after serving 30 years as a dedicated nurse.

Upon retirement, she continued to work as a nurse at DACAS Home Health, Paisley House and Meridian Arms retiring again in 2012.

Patricia was an avid reader who enjoyed doing intricate counted cross stitch pictures. Many days were spent with “The East Side Girls” having lunch at local restaurants. She was an animal lover who opened the family home to many pets.

Besides her husband Gary of 58 years, she will be missed by her daughter, Lisa Fill (Randy Spurr); her son, Gary Frazier; grandson, Michael Fill.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Specht.

A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 11:15 a.m. at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, Austintown, officiated by Reverend Edward Noga.

Kane was born August 1, 2001 in Youngstown, a son of Joseph Wiesensee and Erica Mace. 

A senior at Boardman High School, he enjoyed loud music, fast cars, hunting, riding his dirt bike, four-wheeling and the color red. 

Kane participated in sports throughout his school career. He played t-ball from kindergarten to third grade, wrestling and basketball from fourth to sixth grade and football in sixth and seventh grade.    

Kane leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Erica (James) Reyes; his father, Joseph (Lynn) Wiesensee; maternal grandparents, Amy (John) Wilbert and Eric Mace; paternal grandfather, Charles Wiesensee, Sr.; stepbrother, James Reyes, Jr.; stepsister, Cierra Reyes; aunt, Candice Schiavi; uncles, Jeremiah (Chelsea) Mace, Jason (Whitney) Mace and Charles Wiesensee, Jr.; cousins, Michael and Leah Schiavi, Charles Wiesensee III, Arianna and Quinn Mace, as well as many other family and friends.    

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Veronica Wiesensee; great-grandparents, Ester (Grover) Mace and Don Curl; great-aunt, Barbie Granger.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Russell G. Sarkies, 83, died Friday evening, February 14, 2020 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family. 

Russell was born February 25, 1936 in Youngstown, a son of Russell and Eleanor (Reinhardt) Sarkies.

He was a 1954 graduate of Poland Seminary High School and attended Youngstown State University, taking business administration courses.

Mr. Sarkies worked for General Fireproofing of Youngstown as a coordinator and customer service representative, then for Shenango Steel Company as a buyer and director of safety and Outdoor Power Equipment as an assistant manager. In 2013, he retired as a purchasing agent from Hearn Paper Company, where he met his future wife, Dorothy. 

A veteran, Russ served in the United States Army and the Ohio National Guard and was a member of the American Legion.

He was a former member of the First Covenant Church, where he helped with youth ministry. In his younger years, he was also a volunteer firefighter with the Poland Volunteer Fire Department.

In his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard and caring for his classic cars that he owned over the years.

He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy Danks Franklin, whom he married August 20, 1999; two sons, Russell (Priscilla) Sarkies of Poland and David Sarkies of Cleveland; step-children, Carolyn (Alex) Yoksimovich of Toronto, Canada, John (Erica) Franklin of Austintown and Laura (Richard) Dixon of Boardman; six grandchildren, John Franklin, Amanda (Jim) Haupt, Derek Cook, Michael and Heather Yoksimovich and Gabriella Franklin and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Isaac Haupt.

In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Sarkies. 

Family and friends will be received from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street, Boardman.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born November 20, 1927 in Warren, Ohio, a son of the late Samuel T. and Janet (Morris) Morgan.

On April 24, 1948, he married Helen Maxine Thackwell and they have spent the last 71 years together.

He was a graduate of Lordstown High School class of 1945.

He was employed as a Project Engineer and Salesman at Wean United for over 38 years. Ken traveled all over the world for work and would come back and shares his stories and photos with his family. He used to be confused for Henry Kissinger while on his travels when he was younger.

Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served right after World War II.

He was a member of the Carol F. Clapp Masonic Lodge.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Helen M. Morgan of Warren, Ohio; daughter, Janet L. Morgan and son, Bruce E. Morgan both of Warren, Ohio; grandchildren, Justin (Tara) Morgan, twins, Daniel Morgan and Amanda (Steve) Treadway, who greatly adored him, and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Bryce Treadway and Gigi Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rebecca Shafer and brother, Reese Morgan.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Rose Church.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marie will always be remembered lovingly by her husband, Joseph DiLisio, whom she married, January 22, 1971; three daughters, Danielle DiLisio, Jennifer Dietz and Lisa (Les) Fender and three grandchildren, Cayla and Brianna Dietz and Jordan Fender.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Frank Dietz and a brother.
